Topic: RE: Am I eating too much?
All of you are doing so well, I had my surgery April 29, and while in hospital of all things I gained 15 lbs, well as of two days ago I lost the 15 lbs and the funny thing when I was in the hospital I had no trouble drinking the amounts of fluids they gave me and now that I am home on the purees they said I would not be able to maybe eat 1/4 of the tray but I could eat 1/2 that was a little scary, I now can eat just about everything also, nothing has come back up yet I am not sure even if it will, I am not planning on testing my limits. I have thoughts that maybe they did not even perform the surgery on me, if it was not for the huge scar on my stomach. I will be happy when I can lose some new weight, other than the lbs that I had gained and had to lose back.

Well when I started the process I had 196 to lose.... 140 on day of surgery ... which means I've lost 20% of my overweight in the first couple of months... if you had 80 to lose and lost 14 lbs, you've lost 17.5% of your overweight. You're not far behind the curveball. So don't stress! Keep it to percentages, and my 28 and your 14 are very similar.

Topic: RE: Have any Marchers out there started working out at the gym?
I go to gym every day. I do at least 30 minutes of cardio every day and then hit up the free weights. Quite happy with this as I am just getting better and better at it as pounds go away and can resist more.

Topic: RE: Protein Shakes
I went to GNC and bought their 100% Whey protein drink mixes (I've done chocolate, banana, vanilla and mixed berry) and to me the Vanilla was the best. I add powdered milk and a fruit to it. Like strawberries and bananas or blueberries and bananas. You get 29 grams of protein in one scoop of powder. I do three scoops to two 8 fl. oz of cold water and blend it in a blender so I wind up with 87 grams of protein. Also, I bought New-Whey liquid protein shooters from them as well. Those have 42 grams of protein and don't take long to drink at all. The fruit punch one tastes very good. The grape one is to sweet for me. Don't know if this helps you or if you have a GNC where you are but, I hope so.

I've decided I am ready for more than just walking to step-up my weight loss. Has anyone been using an eliptical or resistance machines at the gym yet?

Actually, my doctor showed me why it looks like some people may not be losing when they really are. He has a scale that breaks down your weight, for example how many lbs are fa****er, and muscle. In most cases, you drop a lot of weight initially because you lose water lbs. This is due to you quickly restricting water intake right after surgery. Then when the water weight comes back you will notice that the muscle lbs. go up and the fat lbs. start to come down. It is all a shifting of the weight within your body. I am so glad that he has the scale that shows that, cuz when i saw i had only lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks i was upset, but then they showed me the shift in lbs and how i was losing fat and gaining muscle and the water weight was staying the same. This is why you will notice inches coming off and the scale not really moving to much. I dont have a scale at home, i just judge by the way my clothes fit and I have gone from a 24 to a 16 in less than 2 months, so at this point, I can't and won't complain!!! ~Im Gifted

Grab a tap measure and see that changes that are happening there. I have had the same thing with, "why isn't the scale changing?" I then went and got a tape measure because several people were telling me that they could tell my body was changing and I look like I am still losing. I also noticed that I slowed down or stopped losing when I finally got my period again. So many things can be causing it. Hang in there and keep doing what your Dr. and Dietician have told you works.
