Rita, you are WISE. I really hate the idea of not talking with this guy, but you know, if it means I won't have a mister negativity in my world. So be it.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of us change! Whoo hoo!

I dunno, Jason, I'd really like to see a post from your spousal unit saying that your feet and hands were so soft and beautiful as you went into surgery! hehehe.

Well, I don't know about the manicure/pedicure LOL, but everything else seem like a great idea! I'm also trying to get caught up on work so that I won't have to "hit the ground running" when I return.
I'm so happy to see more activity on this board! When I first scheduled (back in December!) there was next to nothing on this board!
BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE!

I think that the clear would need to be removed too. Ask the hospital for their policies. With all due respect to the lady who wrote the book about wearing lipstick to her masectomy, makeup and nail polish interfere with something in the operating room (don't ask me what ... I don't know .. hehe). Of course, my knowledge could be antiquated too.

Janice,
The surgery is something you are doing for you self. You need to tell the people around you that they need to support you in your decision, provide information so they understand the process and explain that yes you can loose weight the old fashion weight but to be successful in the long term you need this extra tool. At the end of the day some of the folks around us will be there and support our decisions and some will try to sabotage us. We just need to stay strong and realize that this decision takes courage and commitment.
Good Luck on your Journey and I can not wait to be on the loosers bench with you!!!

Actually, one of the things I am going to do, I am starting today and that is begin a relationship with a counselor to discuss the changes involved and my brick walls, feelings, and so on. Fat has served to protect me in many ways, so I need to do what I can to stop that and that starts with figuring out how it has protected me.
Other things include getting my house in order; already got the cable upgraded so I won't be too terribly bored; get new athletic shoes (I realized this morning working out that my toes are pushing against the box); and I think the manicure/pedicure idea sounds GREAT! But remember you have to remove polish prior to going into the surgical suite.
I'm getting excited. Do you realize that March is less than 40 days away???

Thank you all for your feedback. I have to admit I am nervous about the surgery risks, but at the same time I think that if I don't have this surgery, I'm guaranteed four others within two years. Which is the greater danger?
My friend brings up all kinds of dire things.... so I just tell him what I know related to his comments and provide stories and my perspective. I don't feel the need to discuss my concerns with him because he is so negative. Haha, now he is telling me he thinks I am a pollyanna because I don't say I'm worried or wonder about some bad things. I just figure he says enough for both of us!
