It's totally normal. I lost 25 lbs in the first 2 1/2 weeks. I loze ZERO lbs in the next three weeks. I've lost 3 lbs in the last four days. Total of 28 lbs lost in 6 weeks. Since you really can't change that you've had surgery, I'd say enjoy your new lifestyle, accept that weight loss is not a steady loss, and step off the scale. You'll be happier if you only weigh once a week or once every two weeks. Most people lose in three or four week cycles. Lose for a week, don't lose for two or three, and then lose for a week, followed by another stall. It's all about the way the body processes fat and uses it for energy.

Well, my surgery was March 6, and I've only lost 14 lbs. After reading about some of you, now I'm really depressed. Granted, I was on the "borderline" for surgery and needed to lose 80 pounds prior to surgery, but still, this is ridiculous.

Grab a tap measure and see that changes that are happening there. I have had the same thing with, "why isn't the scale changing?" I then went and got a tape measure because several people were telling me that they could tell my body was changing and I look like I am still losing. I also noticed that I slowed down or stopped losing when I finally got my period again. So many things can be causing it. Hang in there and keep doing what your Dr. and Dietician have told you works.

Well when I started the process I had 196 to lose.... 140 on day of surgery ... which means I've lost 20% of my overweight in the first couple of months... if you had 80 to lose and lost 14 lbs, you've lost 17.5% of your overweight. You're not far behind the curveball. So don't stress! Keep it to percentages, and my 28 and your 14 are very similar.

Actually, my doctor showed me why it looks like some people may not be losing when they really are. He has a scale that breaks down your weight, for example how many lbs are fa****er, and muscle. In most cases, you drop a lot of weight initially because you lose water lbs. This is due to you quickly restricting water intake right after surgery. Then when the water weight comes back you will notice that the muscle lbs. go up and the fat lbs. start to come down. It is all a shifting of the weight within your body. I am so glad that he has the scale that shows that, cuz when i saw i had only lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks i was upset, but then they showed me the shift in lbs and how i was losing fat and gaining muscle and the water weight was staying the same. This is why you will notice inches coming off and the scale not really moving to much. I dont have a scale at home, i just judge by the way my clothes fit and I have gone from a 24 to a 16 in less than 2 months, so at this point, I can't and won't complain!!! ~Im Gifted

Hello! I had the same thing happen I had lost 28lbs. and then for what felt like forever (3 weeks) I was at a stand still. You have to remember that this weight didn't come on over night and it's not going to come over night! Your body has to adjust to your sudden weight loss. It will pick up again I promise. After those 3 weeks I steadly have been loosing. It has been 10 1/2 weeks now and I am 1 0z. away from 50 lbs. Don't worry the scale will move again! -Shannon
