What's everyone eating at 6 weeks post-op
Hello everyone,
I will be 6 weeks post-op on Monday and I am wondering what everyone is eating. I know every doctor is different and I think it's interesting to see what everyone can eat. As for me, I am on a strictly protein diet. I can eat 1.5 - 3 oz. of protein 3 times a day. At two months I can add 1 veggie and then at 3 months I can add a fruit.

Im 5 weeks out..And im having tuna,veggies,pickles,potatoes.. A bunch of different stuff... But only 2oz a meal ..... All veggies have to be skinned and de-seeded .... Brocolli only eat the bush part.. Dont eat stem.... Im havin cheese.. Any soft kind....Hamburg-very litlle.... Fish....Every doc is different....
I am eating peanut butter, stone ground wheat crackers, tuna salad, broiled fish, very little ground beef< still hurts and scratches going down> a little chicken, whole wheat waffles, potatoes, veggies and fruit without skin, wheat pasta, rolled low fat cheese with fat free ham and mustard, soft cheese , yogurts ....
Doc passed me for a hyperproteic diet of 800KCal day. This means I am masticating already. I am having meat, fish, potatoes, rice, veggies (except the ones that make you gassy), milk, and fruits. This does look like a little accelerated, but so far I am doing great with it and I am happy to have food I can chew.
I have a nutritionist who happens to be a wonderful cook, so I have a few pretty amazing recipes from her. Including one for a substitute of mayo that is pretty approximate to the real thing but that doesn't carry eggs in it.
I am four weeks post surgery and I have a 60 gram protein shake for breakfast. I mix it with fresh bananas or strawberries and dry powdered milk. For lunch I usually have an organic cream soup; sometimes I combine two different ones and dinner has been small amounts of things like the following: shrimp scampi, whole wheat spaghetti with sausage and onions, a boiled hotdog, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cheese sticks, black beans pureed with diced up ham, soft scrambled eggs, brocolli and cream corn. Again, I eat VERY small amounts; maybe two to three ounces. If it is something I truly want and I'm not sure, I puree it in the blender.
Today is my 6 week surgiversary. I'm still on "mushies" but mushies according to my surgeon's plan are pretty loosely defined.
My food today:
Pre-breakfast I had NSA hot cocoa and a scoop of chocolate protein powder.
Breakfast I had my multivitamins and a protein bar
After Breakfast I had a protein shake with UpCalD
Lunch - Some granola treats that are 90 cals. (yum)
After Lunch - 24 oz propel.
Early Dinner - 3 oz ground chicken taco seasoned cooked meat with black olives and cheese on top. Multivitamins also.
After early dinner - 24 oz beverage with UpCalD
Late Dinner - 2 oz seafood salad and 1 oz potato salad, and 1 mini dill pickle
I'm a school teacher and don't like to push my "food limit" while at school. I've found that keeping my breakfast light, my lunch lighter, and having a meal when I get home from school, and one more meal later in the evening, I feel like I'm getting my food, liquids, protein, vitamins, appropriate calories, etc. all in.
As long as it is pureed, I can have it.
Starches: potaoes, crackers, rice, no pasta.
meat: all but seafood (shrimp, crab, etc.)
Veggies: not raw and no skins, like corn
Fruits: same as veggies
That means that I either eat baby food, (which I do for fruits and some veggies) I chew it to death, or I put it in the food processor.
I meet witht he NUT next Thurday and hope to be cleared for a salad.
I have not had any problems eating in or out and I also teach school, so it is not always easy to eat well during the day.
I just finished an EAS low carb protein shake.
Every Dr. and NUT is different, as I am to eat 1 oz. of each protein, starch and fruit or veggie per meal.
