Pre Op appt did not go as expected
I started yesterday off with first getting TOM - I said better this week then next week. And I carried on.
I went to work for 2 hours and got some stuff done then went for my pre-op at the doc's office. They were concerned because no one had scheduled a stress test. After several discussions it was left that the anethesiologist (bad spelling, I know) would make the call. So they stressed me out.
I went from the doc to the hospital for pre admission testing. They took blood (lots of blood) and I had not eaten so I got a little queasy. But I was OK. My blood pressure was 155/94 - high. It has run high since this last weight gain. So a very nice young girl (I don't think she was more than 18!) came in and introduced herself as the anethesiologist (I'll stick with this spelling for now!). She did an EKG and said that my left ventricle was enlarged due to the high blood pressure.
I now need to lower my blood pressure as low as I can before Monday OR THEY WILL CANCELL MY SURGERY!!! So much for the stress! LOL
My primary doc gave me a prescription for Hydrochlorothizade 25 mg once a day and Atenolol 25 mg 2 times a day. Does anyone know if this will do the trick? What else can I do (Beside not worry) that will help?
Oh, and the anethesiology said I did not need a stress test. But this morning the doc's office called and I am having a 3 hour stress test Thursday.
I would appreciate any advice, help I could get!
