is everyone on liquids for 2 weeks and protien drinks?
My surgery is 3/10 and I only have to be on full liquid diet for 1 week whi*****ludes high protein drinks (blended with low cal fruits if I want) , creamed soups, cream of wheat, sf jello and the rest of the wonderful clear liquid stuff. My surgeon requires 2 weeks if BMI above 50 though. I was told the reason for the liquid diet is to shrink the liver for surgery. The liver becomes fatty from high fat foods and will remain large if not somewhat cleansed prior to surgery. I met a women the other night who had to do the 2 week liquid diet and actually lost 30 lbs prior to surgery. Well, that's a nice bonus. She had surgery in August and has lost 115 lbs so far. Starting wt was 330 . Best of luck. Dotti
Um, nope. My surgeon requires the presurgery weight loss. Then just don't gain anything or your out on your ear. My bowel prep consists of eat light the second and third day before. Nothing but liquids the day before. No water after midnight. Use a laxative the day before. You DODN'T want to go into it constipated.
But up till the day before surgery, solids are fine. Up till three days before, no specific requirements other than don't regain ANY of your required weight loss or we don't do it.
I have three weeks of liquids after, I would be really miserable if I had two weeks before as well!!!!!
