Topic: Congratulations from a March 2006 WLS guy (long post)
Hello to all of you prospective March 2007ers. I can tell you that I am proud to be a "Marcher". We have a great group of March 2006ers. I welcome all of you to stop by our board and ask any questions that you might have. For what my two cents are worth, I do have a few suggestions. Rely and lean on each other on your board. Dont be afraid to post a question or suggestion, there shouldn't be any taboo subjects and are no dumb questons Take several pictures of yourself at least monthly. You may not want to now, but you will be amazed at the difference is just a short period of time. Measure yourself at least monthly. There will be times when you will feel that you are not losing weight, but you will be losing inches. I track my weight loss and inches lost at: http://www.weighttracker.info/Default.asp It has a lot of nice features. Some people swear by fitday.com to track their calories and protein for each day. It's worth a try. Try to walk as much as you can, even if you don't want to. Prepare yourself mentally and physically for your upcoming surgery. Start drinking lots of water now. If you feel awkward when someone gives you compliments on your weight loss, just say "thank you" and move on. Tell only the people you want to know about your surgery. As best as you can cleanse your house of junk food items. Most of all, enjoy this wild ride you are about to take. Let us other Marcher's know if we can be of any help. I am excited for all of you. Here's my numbers since I started my journey: weight 1st consult (Janurary 13, 2006) 339 weight day of surgery (March 20, 2006) 300 Weight today: 188 Life is great, Rick

Topic: RE: Anyone else getting nervous?
Nervous...me Nervous???? Why...who's nervous...not me...I'm not nervous.... Oh yes...I'm nervous. I am worried about the surgery. I am nervous about the new way to eat (or not eat). I am nervous about how my kids will do with me in surgery. I am nervous about a ton of things. But you know what. I decided to do this. This is for me. This is a good thing. I can't wait for it to be over and for my new lifestyle to begin. I can't wait to ride a roller coaster with my girls. I can't wait for my wife to hug me and have her hands touch in the back. I can't wait to ride a bike. I can't wait to go swiming without a shirt on. I can't wait to mow the grass and not have my wife worry that she will find me laying in the backyard. I can't wait to be known as the "tall guy" instead of the "big guy". I can't wait to walk onto an airplane and not see looks of horror as I approach my seat. I can't wait to shop at Macy's or anywhere but the big and tall mans shop. Try to focus on what a wonderful life you are going to have instead of what you will be missing or how hard it is going to be. It will be hard. But the up side is sooooo much better. Keep your pre-op eating in check. Remember, you are trying to change your life, don't make the post op part harder than it has to be (ie having to loose even more!) Good luck and I will be watching (I have mine on the 15th) and wating for word on how things go. Dave

Thanks everyone! I hope the best for all of us! I can't wait to get the pain of the surgery behind me...recover as best as I can...and get to the losing weight part! For once in our lives we are encouraged to be losers! I am full of so many emotions...but mostly I am very excited and can't wait for the days to go by. Keep posting and let me know how ya'll are doing! ~~Star

I did not think I would be nervous at all. However, I'm a little jittery. I think I'm nervous about the teeny tiny portions of food. (ha ha) I can't seem to stop eating. I better watch it or I am going to gain another 100 pounds before surgery!
