You wanted some encouraging words? Remember...everything TRULY DOES happen for a reason. This additional time can be used to lose more weight before your surgery. As you may know, the more weight you lose, the smaller your liver gets, which then makes it easier for the surgeon. And....anything easier for the surgeon is better for you!
Topic: March 2007 First-born on March 2nd-What are you looking forward to?
Looks like I will be one of the March 2007 veterans because my March 2nd date is one of the first in March. I have to say that I have been battling intense fear, but with the support of others from this site, my surgeon's site and the surgeon's office, I am feeling much better. I almost think I may be getting excited.
I've been thinking about all the advantages being healthy will bring me. These are some of my thoughts:
My range of motion will improve for when I am exercising (too much fat in the way now).
I will be able to sit with my knees crossed.
Being able to purchase stylish clothes and look good in them.
Having the stamina I need to do my gardening
Take bicycle rides with my husband (get to go purchase the bikes to do that too)
Having people comment on my weight loss when we are back out on our boat this summer
Having my husband proud of me and being able to flirt with him and feel confident about it.
Being able to fit into sexy lingerie.
Being proud of myself for finally accomplishing something I've been working at for my whole life.
If you have any of your own, share them hear. I'd love to hear them.

Kim,
I read your post, and thought of my sister. She was an amazing athlete, also. She went to the state of Michigan track meet 3 years in a row for 200M and 400M hurdles. She won a full ride scholarship to Ferris State for volleyball, but got married and had 4 kids before 25 instead. In 2000 she was involved in a car accident that shattered the hip, ankle and femur of her left leg. She's also struggling with her weight now and has been denied WLS by her insurance co. Even though they'll pay for hip replacement surgery every 6 to 10 years.
If your ever in Holland again, I'll introduce you to your "cosmic twin".
Good luck with your journey.

Hi David
Thanx for the encouraging words. I know the time will be here before I know it. It has been a long road for me. I know it is in God's timing.
I noticed you are from Holland, MI. I was raised in Sarnia, Ontario Canada across from Port Huron,MI. Married a wonderful man from Warren, MI. North of Detroit. We have been up to Holland a few times for the festivals they have had. Very nice place.

Hey dont worry about it!
I originaly was supposed to go in on the 19th of Jan. Tricare pulled the rug out from under me exactly one week before the 19th. I have been fighting with them ever since. I just got the approval today and I am scheduled for the 16th of March.
So yes while we may not be going in on our original dates, and yes were bumed out it dosent mean that we arent getting it still. Besides its better late than never!
I was also a thin person, actualy Im technicaly considered one of the lightweights here. But I dont let any of that be discouraging or make me feel like I dont belong here. Everyone here has been soo sweet and encouraging that I feel right at home.
Topic: March 16th For me
So Hi everyone! I originaly was supposed to be Jan 19th but thanks to Tricare being pains in the butt it got pushed back. But thanks to the hardworking staff at Dr Vierra's office my appeal went through and overturned the denial.
I just found this all out today!

Don't feel like the lone ranger. I too, started out thin, and watched myself baloon up to where I am today. What's another month to wait?
Myself, I just received a letter from my insurance provider saying I've been approved. I'm hoping to get a date with the surgeon, soon.
On the other hand, surgery scares the bejeepers out of me. The last time I went under the knife, it went terrible for me. So I'm not really pressing too hard for a date.
Anyway, by this time next year we'll both be slim and more agile than we are today. Just gotta think big picture. Hang in there.

Yes, it is! I will be sure to keep you in my prayers and updated as I go along.
I go and do all my preop next Thursday and when that day comes I'll be sitting on pins and needles because it will be just a few days away.
