Topic: Mere hours to go!
Hey all! Just wanted to pop in while I am taking a break from packing....
My surgery is at 7:30 am tomorrow! I can't believe that I am just mere hours away!
In one respect you could say that I started this journey years ago, but realisiticallly, it was last November that I truly started on this path. I can't believe how smooth and quick it has gone for me. I think that those two cir****tances, however, have given me the confidence that I am making what is the right decision for myself.
I will see you all on the other side!

Topic: Starting a Support Group
Okay what do you have to do to start a support group - there are several of us here in the Midlands who would love to be able to meet with others maybe once a week or either every other week to encourage and support each other. What are the requirements or whatever that you have to do to get started?

Topic: RE: 15 year old---- GOT MY DATE FOR LAPBAND SURGERY!!!!
I am 48 and I had to lose 20 lbs for my insurance too. I did this by going on the liquid diet that is used for 2 week pre op and 1 week post op. I added cottage cheese tuna and sugar free carnation breakfast to skim milk, (sugar free jello, sugar free popsiscles.) my juke food fix The rest of this is protein. The liquid diet helps to srink the liver so the surgery take less time and helps with a speedy recovery. When I got to my desired weight the insurance wanted I went straight to my famly dr had him put on his prescript pad my weight, bmi, height. I then faxed this to my dr doing the lap-band...The insurance excepted this. It took me about 4 weeks to get this weight off. I also took a multi-vitamin with iron daily so I would not get sick from the lack on calories. The key is high protein, lowfat, and no sugar. I know its hard but it will be worth it.... But as every one else told you check with your dr first to make sure this is right for you....As with any agressive diet clear with dr first.Oh I started my lourney back in Nov.06 I had my lap-band surgery on March 2nd 2006. I have lost 31 lbs since i had to lose the 20 first. The rest has from being on liquid diets to prepare for surgery. Good luck! And again CHECK WITH YOUR DR FIRST!

Topic: epilepsy meds post surgery
I am to have surgery 3/20/07 and am an epileptic who takes 4 different meds to control my seizures. I have been seizure free for 4 years.
The Dr.'s seem unconcerned but I know how difficult it is to get just the right combination of meds not to mention how 13 pills are going to fit into my new pouch.
I know that they will break open capsule and crush capsules but even my neurologist is concerned as to how I will maintain the proper levels.
I would love to hear from another epileptic or person with chronic medical problem, requiring daily meds, that isn't going to go away after weight loss.

Topic: RE: March 20th surgery people... HI!!! Checking in...
Hi Jenifer and fellow March 20th people,
I hope you feel better soon and there are no delays, Jenifer.
I have had all pre-op testing done, I just have the ekg, history and physical to do on Weds. I have final consult with Doc and Nut appt. on Tuesday. I've bought most of what I think I will need. I'm waiting to hear what Nut recommends on Tues.
I have not packed anything yet, but I don't think I will be taking all that much so, I can throw that together.
I'm getting nervous (terrified) of the whole thing. I want so much for it to be six months from now and all this gloom and doom part behind me.
Take care,
Wanda
Topic: 3-22-2007
Big day is coming quick now. March 22. Concerned and excited now.
Hopefully all will go as planned. I need to have my gallbladder removed
and there is some concern about stones in my bile duct. If the stones
are present and cannot be removed my bypass will be put on hold. Dr
Bartels will be doing the gallbladder and Dr. quinlin the bypass.
Hoping to get it all completed on the same day. really want to be a
loser!
Tony J.
Good luck to all of my March fellows!
