Topic: RE: how much have you lost, any stalls?
Boy am I glad I am not the only one! I was getting paranoid here! I have stalled at about 112 now for a couple months. I might try that 5 day pouch test!

I am also at a major stall. I have only lost 18 pounds in 4 months. My total loss is about 96 pounds. I did eat almost anything I wanted during the holidays, just a very small amount. I know this contributed to the lack of weight loss. I started really trying to speed things back up on Dec.26th. I am going to the health club at least 3 -4 times a week.but always am doing some type of exercise daily. I am drinking water, eating good but only about a 4 pound loss all month. I just keep telling myself that this is the best accomplishment I have had in years trying to loss weight. I really am hopeful
that the weight is going to start coming off again.

The five day pouch test is a way to shrink your pouch if you think you are eating too much. I'm not sure my pouch is any smaller but I did lose 4 pounds. It can be found at www.5daypouchtest.com

I haven't lost anywhere near where you are. My goal is about 35 lbs away though. I am in the same rut you are. Need help figuring out how to jumpstart too. I also started keeping a food journal. I am not sure of the calorie intake, but I know it is not much. My husband does not understand how I can survive with amount I eat. I am not hungry very often. I think one of my main problems was fluid intake. I wasn't getting enough. But since I kicked my exercise routine into high gear, i have been drinking water alot. I am very faithful to my workout routine, drink my water, eat as well as I can, and still no results. Nothing in almost 2 months now. No inches, nothing. It is so hard to stay positive, when it isn't coming off like you would like. Help!!!

I have never heard of a 5 day pouch test. Exactly what is that??
Topic: I'm stuck
I had the lap-band surgery in March 2007. I have hit a stale mate. I have lost 63 lbs since surgery. My weight was 247 lbs. I am at 184 right now. The only problem is I have been at the same weight for 2 months now. I try to eat right, I exercise every day for any where from an hour to hour and half. I am faithful to my workout routine. I have only missed 3 days in 4 weeks. If anyone has any ideas to jumpstart my weightloss again, please let me know!!

I have had lots of stalls. I was stuck in the 130s for a long time and I just did the 5 day pouch test and lost 4 pounds. I was 128 this morning.

Hi Anna, That weight loss is really good. I was told to expect the weight to stall for a while then it would pick back up again. Hang in there. You are doing great.

I am at a major stall. I have lost 110 pounds. I can't seem to break this 3 month stall though. I even started keeping a food diary. I am eating more than a thousand calories a day. Is everyone else eating this much?

Kim,
I found that my body did this roller coaster thing throughout. I would lose a bunch of weight and then level off, then lose a bunch more and level off. I never worried about carbs. I simply watched the sugars (always less than 6g per serving) and fats (same) and calories (reasonable for the amount of protein...ie lots of protein then 250-300 was ok...low protein then it had to drop accordingly).
I did find that raising my protein levels would almost always cause me start losing again. I also found that exercise (any exercise) helped as well. Walking, running, anything that got my heart going.
Now...when I started training for 5K's and 1/2 marathons...my weight went down with no issues...but I had to increase my protein to about 120-140g per day and I also increased my calcium (but that was to cover the beating to my bones by running so many miles on pavement).
I have leveled at 182-187 (at 6' 1", that puts me just inside the normal range for BMI). Depending on my level of training, I increase or decrease my protein levels.
One other thing to watch. You should measure youself. I found that when I would level out, my body would continue to change. I would lose inches around my mid section or chest or legs. It seemed that even though the lbs were not coming off, the body was still changing.
Keep your spirits up and good luck with the surgery.
