I am at a major stall. I have lost 110 pounds. I can't seem to break this 3 month stall though. I even started keeping a food diary. I am eating more than a thousand calories a day. Is everyone else eating this much?

Hi Anna, That weight loss is really good. I was told to expect the weight to stall for a while then it would pick back up again. Hang in there. You are doing great.

I have had lots of stalls. I was stuck in the 130s for a long time and I just did the 5 day pouch test and lost 4 pounds. I was 128 this morning.

I haven't lost anywhere near where you are. My goal is about 35 lbs away though. I am in the same rut you are. Need help figuring out how to jumpstart too. I also started keeping a food journal. I am not sure of the calorie intake, but I know it is not much. My husband does not understand how I can survive with amount I eat. I am not hungry very often. I think one of my main problems was fluid intake. I wasn't getting enough. But since I kicked my exercise routine into high gear, i have been drinking water alot. I am very faithful to my workout routine, drink my water, eat as well as I can, and still no results. Nothing in almost 2 months now. No inches, nothing. It is so hard to stay positive, when it isn't coming off like you would like. Help!!!

If you aren't eating enough, your body is going to "shut down" and hold on to whatever you give it. Especially if you are exercising a lot, you NEED to be eating the appropriate amount of food. I would start calculating your calories to find out where you are and try making some adjustments to see if that will help. Wendy

The five day pouch test is a way to shrink your pouch if you think you are eating too much. I'm not sure my pouch is any smaller but I did lose 4 pounds. It can be found at www.5daypouchtest.com

I am also at a major stall. I have only lost 18 pounds in 4 months. My total loss is about 96 pounds. I did eat almost anything I wanted during the holidays, just a very small amount. I know this contributed to the lack of weight loss. I started really trying to speed things back up on Dec.26th. I am going to the health club at least 3 -4 times a week.but always am doing some type of exercise daily. I am drinking water, eating good but only about a 4 pound loss all month. I just keep telling myself that this is the best accomplishment I have had in years trying to loss weight. I really am hopeful that the weight is going to start coming off again.

Boy am I glad I am not the only one! I was getting paranoid here! I have stalled at about 112 now for a couple months. I might try that 5 day pouch test!

I've been fortunate not to have any major stalls, but I've leveled out now that I'm under goal. My wife (who also had RNY in March) has slowed down big time in the past several months, and is losing at a much slower rate than before. She's almost to her initial goal weight, and is thinking she might lower her goal a few lbs now that she's almost there. She's going to kick her exercise up a notch so we'll both be under our initial goal weights within the first year post surgery. Here's my 2 cents on plateaus... You have to do something different if you want different results. Let your success so far motivate you to higher levels of activity and fitness. Be honest with yourself about what you're eating. Are you consuming too many or too few calories. Either can sabotage your goals. I like to remind myself that I had this surgery primarily to become a healthier person, and not as much just to lose the weight. The fitter you are, the more you will be assured that your LIFESTYLE and ATTITUDE toward food have truly changed. --Dave
