9-Month Follow-up with Surgeon

Well, Thursday was my big day! I had hoped that I could be down to the surgeon's goal of 199.5, but I didn't make it. No worries on that. On my scale this morning, I was at 203.8 - which is my lowest as a grown-up adult! At the surgeon's office, I was 205.5 (which also allowed 2 lbs for clothes). So, I logged in there at 6 lbs away from his goal. The Dr. said I am ahead of the curve. My starting BMI was 51. It is now 31. He said that most people that start out where I was don't get to where I am now. I told him I am determined! Now... onto the really important stuff... my LABS! First off, I have been taking a Vit D3 supplement, because that was low. I'm happy to report that after taking it for the last month and a half, my Vit D level is smack-dab in the middle of the acceptable range. My B-12 is back into the acceptable range, at a respectable 852. Back at the end of October it was 1520! My B-1 is also smack-dab in the middle of the acceptable range. I am thinking that I will up my B-Complex sub-lingual from 3 times a week to 4... just to keep me toward the upper end of the range. Everything else is great on my labs, as well, including the ever important calcium and protein levels. So I guess my 2 Centrum multis a day, my 1600 ui of Vit D3 and my B-complex are all serving me well! I was telling him that the CitraCal Petites I took for a few weeks were causing me some distress, and he recommended that I do find something to take, as calcium absorption will definitely be an issue. I think I will try splitting the Petites and see how that goes. I think the problem was that they weren't dissolving properly, and that was leaving me with some stomach discomfort. I'm just so happy that the lab work was all good. That means I don't have to mess with my current regiment (at least, not too much! LOL) I don't have to go back to see him until March... my 1 year surgiversary. Can't wait to see where I am scale-wise by then! This is all uncharted territory for me now! Wendy

Hi Wendy, Congrats on your success. I too am having problems with my V-D. I am now up to 1600 IU. My surgeon wanted me to be in the sun for 15 min a day but I have a history of skin cancer so I told him that short sleeves and no sunscreen is a no no. So I will continue with the pills. On another note. My blood pressure is dropping and if it continues I can get off of the BP meds. Happy Holiday's Yordis
