The first 6 months

I had surgery on 19 March. I was 330 at the time (380 at my highest) and am now just over 200, for a six month loss of just under 130 and a total loss of about 180. My doctor and I have begun discussing options for the tummy tuck. Now that the summer heat is all but done with, I've reintensified my workouts. They slowed after my gall bladder removal in the beginning of summer. I bike or mountain hike just about daily now, and I've been able to completely change my eating habits (the Chinese restaurant peoiple nearby now know me as the "Egg Drop Soup Guy" and not the "Egg Foo Yung Guy.") It's amazing how easy it is to hike up a mountain with more than 100 pounds off my back. And I'm cold all the time, too. Let's just hope it's not a bad winter. Congratulations on everybody's loss. Remember, it's not the number that's important. I only weigh myself about once a month. It's all about your health and how you feel. Here's to another great six months for all of us Marchers! Chris

OMG!!! I thought it was just me that stayed cold a lot... that is to funny. I understand truley about now doing more stuff then what you could do 6 months ago and longer. I am just excited that I can take my kids out and play with them without getting tired. I love to shop and take walks. I agree with you totally, it is about the heath. congrats 2 u!!!

Great post, Montego. And congrats to you and everyone else. Do you take supplements to reach 100 g of protein per day. I think maybe I should be supplementing to get higher amounts of protein in. I had my surgery on the 26th and had my 6 month today. I am down 101 pounds. I started at 324 and was 223 today. I love WLS. My goal is 170 so......another 53 pounds. Sandy

Hey Sandy Thanks you are also doing so well. For my protein I drink RTD Pure Protein it is 35 grams a can I drink 3 a day and i get the rest from high protein foods. I get the cans from The Vitamin Shoppe. Keep up the good work and good luck on the next 6 months. Can't wait to hear about your journey to 170lbs. Montego

Hi everyone. I'm doing great and purposely planning weekends with hubby doing outdoor activities. I walk with my pupster everyday , no less than three miles a day,up to 5 miles. ( Lap RNY on March 19th) I started at 230 lbs. and now weigh 164. (66 lb. loss) I know this is much slower than all of you, but at least it's going down on the scale for the first time in years. I think that perhaps I have to shake up my routine a little more, so my body is not so "Ho-hum" and allows me to drop more lbs. Labs are good and I'm feeling wonderful. I have started to add wrist weights when walking and I think that it is going to make a difference with toning my arms. I'm glad that everyone is progressing amazingly well. Diane The post was a great idea.

Hi, This post was so much fun to read. I am glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. I had my surgery on March 7,2007. So I am getting close to 7 months now. At my six month follow up appointment I was super excited to find out that I have lost a total of 150 lbs. 10 lbs was pre-op, but the other 140 was all after my surgery. I know that sounds like too much to some of you, but you need to know my highest weight was 444 lbs. I now weigh @ 292.(or less I haven't weighed in 3 weeks) My current weight is now similar to some people's highest weight. I just hope I continue to lose, I would love to some day be under the 200's. I am just so thankful that my health is so much better. I think it was Chris who said "its not the numbers," what is important is that I have a life now!!! I was almost totally handicapped before. I was in a wheel chair to go shopping, and I had to use it to go to my son's football games last year. This year I can walk proudly out to the field and cheer his team on.(and I don't have to feel embarassed, like everyone is staring at me.) This is what it has been about for me! GO WARRIORS!!!! What an awesome feeling my dreams are coming true! Thanks for letting me share! Christina

Hi! I haven't posted in ages or really even been by the boards, but I love checking in with the Marchers. I had my surgery March 1, with my heightest weight being 277. I'm at 183 now, so nearly at that 100 pound loss in 7 months. I can't believe how much weight that really is in such a short amount of time. My struggles are getting in enough water, and staying away from too much fat. I really like working out so getting in the exercising hasn't been too hard. I find I'm cold ALL the time now! I leave a sweater at work because I know I will be freezing and everyone else will be sweating. I went from a 24/26 to a solid 14 right now, size L in shirts. My boobs have shrank the most, but hey. That's life! My only question is how does it stop? Will it slow down soon? I have been losing pretty steadily at 13 pounds a month. I thought it would kind of trickle off. I haven't had plateaus either. I only weigh myslef once a week at the gym. Thanks to everyone *****plied. I love reading about what's been going on in our journeys.

HI all I haven't been around much either...busy with life..etc. I had my surgery March 21, 2007, my surgery weight was 309 and am now at 210..a 99 llb loss in 6 months...haven't lost much in over a month..like 3 llbs!!! getting frustrated. BUT i do not exercise and I eat. I had a few "bumps" in the road....a stricture at 6 weeks out and then had to have my gallbladder out at 12 weeks....alot of vomitting, diahrea, etc etc.. I get weird cravings...mostly eggs, cheese which is good for my protien. but i also crave ice and alot of pasta. the pasta is killing me !!! My labs show low iron, and elevated liver enzymes? I am anemic...and have ZERO energy...( hence the NO exercising...).. I am glad I did it.. but I haven't felt really "Well" since. viv

It is good to hear from others that had surgery around the same time I did. So far my 6 months has been awesome. I weighed 240 at my surgery consult, 227 the day of surgery and I am down to 157 for a total loss of 83 lbs. I just wish I had lost more, I wanted to have 100 lbs off in 6 months but at least I still lost. Only had a few times of throwing up only because I either ate something a little too fast or accidentally took a drink after taking a bite. But I have figured out that I can not do that. I exercise every day I run 2 miles and walk 1 and then I run bleachers. I have only lost 2 lbs the last month though and it is irritating. I figure it is because I am exercising gaining muscle and I guess that is good, but I like when the numbers fall on the scale. I started out wearing 22's and now I wear anything from a 5 to a 9 just depends on who makes the jeans. Dickies I am wearing a 5, lawman, cruel girl and rockies I wear a 9. It is getting better I just want to get to goal, and I know I need to have patients. HUGS REBECCA ~LUVBNALOSER~ 250/227/157/118 HIGHEST/SURGERY/CURRENT/GOAL
