Food Help Needed

I cook "normal" meals for my family and then prepare something for myself that my 2 year old normally eats half of! I do eat a bit of skinless sausage that I cook in a skillet on the stovetop..but I fill it about halfway with water and let the sausage boil all the grease out. Then I drain and brown the sausage a bit. I also eat a bit of baked potato or instant potatoes with it. Tastes great and it's a meal we can all eat. There are also microwaveable roasts that taste great, good on protein, and very soft. You can cook up a big meal of a type that you like and individually freeze it into portions you can eat and it'll stay forever and cook back up in minutes in the microwave. If you just leave it in the fridge...well I don't like leftovers more than a day old...I am paranoid like that! I eat alot of lunchmeats and cheeses mostly. I also eat alot of crackers but I shouldn't. They taste good and make my tummy feel better...but they don't do much for ya nutrition wise. I need to start eating tuna fish more...but I had been burnt out. I don't like the fishes much, chicken and steaks sticks in my tummy. Have you tried eating deviled eggs...yummy. I can't eat the outer white part...something else that sticks in my tummy...but I eat the yolk part and it tastes wonderful. It's great to get some of these ideas out there...but the hard part is what is gonna work for you and taste good. Good luck.

Thanks, Christal. I haven't tried deviled eggs yet - I miss them! I like sausage quite a bit, especially some of the chicken varieties at Sprouts. I'll hafta pick some up! Thanks for the suggestions

I find that I cannot eat leftovers, because of the change in consistency in the food with the temperature change it makes the food hard, and hard to swallow. Even at 6 months out I try to stick to foods with a soft consistency. So I do not eat leftovers. I think that after the surgery we are all like we are living alone, nobody really can understand your new eating habits, even when they live with you. I would try different foods all the time. I personally still cannot do salmon, it is too rough of a fish. I cannot eat chicken breast either unless its fromt he deli and sliced very thin. Just keep experimenting and keep up the good work. Hi Nicole-- Even with 3 people here, I have always been like a short order cook. DH eats anything, DS has over 200 food allergies and then me--WLS. But you are interested in the WLS stuff-- Well, I gave up red meat and still can't do chicken. I make salmon, tilapia and tuna at least 1-2 times/week. Breakfast is yogurt--Dannon light & fit or Fage with frozen fruit in it. Sometimes I'll have TLC crackers with light cream cheese, and lox (smoked salmon). I also enjoy Special K protein plus cereal with raisins and skim milk. Lunch is tuna salad, egg salad, turkey jerkey with cheese (low fat of course), or cottage cheese with cinnamon and splenda sprinkled on it, then into the microw. for 15 seconds....yummmmmy! Some days I will make an egg white omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms and lowfat cheese. Dinner is fish with a vegetable or tofu, and snacks are my trail mix (raw almonds, plain cheerios, dried fruit bits, extra raisins, and unsweetened banana chips). Hope this helps!! Lora
