Calorie Question
Hey surgery sis! I am allowed to have between 600-800 calories now. Some days it does not seem like enough and even though I am not supposed to snack between meals other then protein shakes. I have been keeping grapes....sliced cukes...watermelon....baby carrots and some popcorn around for in the evening. Never more then 4-5 bites of each....except popcorn I eat about a cup. But it is just enough to satisfy the hunger. And I make myself wait and drink water before snacking to make sure it is not lack of fluids or head hunger.
I am having problems with head hunger and I am working at keeping it at bay. Just remember at meal time protein first and the denser the better.
Good Luck!
My breakfast aren't all that high in protein but they are balanced.
B- 1 scrambeld egg 6gr pro
1 1/2 oz of banana or 3 orange wedges
L- 3 oz of tuna salad (I add chopped celery and onions to it) 21 gm pro
S- Protein Shake 20 gr pro (sometimes this isn't enough so I add 5-6 grapes or a couple slices of cuke or a very small chunk of melon)
S- 3-4 oz of fish 21 + gr pro or 3 oz chicken 16 gr pro or 3 oz pork chop grilled or veggie burger or turkey dog (don't remember the pro in these)
with either steamed veggies or baby carrots (raw, good fiber)
S- Protein Shake 20 gr pro (sometimes this isn't enough so I add 5-6 grapes or a couple slices of cuke or a very small chunk of melon) 2x a week I have air popped popcorn with I Can't Believe its not butter spray. And I have 2-3 Ritz crackers or Triscuts when I take my late night anti-biotic.
This is my basic meal plan and I chart everything that I eat. I have avoided most of the white carbs or breads because they are my downfall. I am going to try the Buerilla Plus speghetti. It has protein and good carbs but you still need to limit the amount you have.
Remeber always eat protein first and then your fruit or veggies and if you need the starchy type things it should be last and only 1 oz according to my nut.
Good Luck
I know I said it before, but I'm so glad you're able to be up and around. I think you're going to have your weight loss TAKE OFF
I do alot of what you mentioned. Most of the time, protein is the center of each meal, and if I eat something extra it is usually really healthy (triscuit crackers or fruit) or more protein. I'm getting to the point where I care less and less if I lose any more weight, and am more concerned with ramping up my exercise. Although my health has increased, I'm stuggling staying motivated to exercise.

I never really tracked my calories until recently because I found my weight loss stalling a little (which I know is normal - BOO!) but I was also getting hungrier between my 3 meals a day. I have started tracking my calories, not finatically - too much to live for these days to waste time doing that - but I notice I am between 800-1200. Most days I work on getting to 1000. I have noticed my weight coming off again and I think it's because of the upped calories.
My surgeon and NUT are very different though it seems then most here on the boards. I don't measure my food, I was advised to eat until I was full. Some days that means more food than others but I really like just eating until I am satisfied. I finally know what full feels like so I love doing that!
Good luck to you!
