Time for a roll call folks
Tomorrow will be 4 months since my surgery! What a ride it's been. Hopefully everyone isn't tired of hearing how far I've come and how much my life's changed. I've lost 110 lbs since my highest weight of 350 lbs, 25 of which was prior to my surgery. I'm now closing in on my goal weight, and thinking about increasing it to something closer to where I am right now. As for plateaus, I thought I had some at the beginning, but in retrospect I've been losing fairly consistently. I am 6'4" and now definately consider myself to have a "muscular" build.
Exercise, I've now been able to do 1 hour on the eliptical machine a few times with a tough routine. Not bad for someone who couldn't do more than 5 minutes just 4 months ago. I'm currently averaging 2-3 lbs per week. The weeks where I do more exercise I seem to lose more.
Currently considering raising my goal from 205 to 225 or 230, as I am feeling pretty good about where I am. Will see my doc sometime in the next month and ask him what he thinks my ideal weight should be.

I had my surgery on 3/20. My weight that day was 411. Now I'm down to 318. It's amazing, 93 lbs in less than 4 months. Hoping to be down 100 by they 20th. That would be awesome. No real stalls yet, I've had a couple of slow weeks, but then BOOM, I get on the scale and have lost another 5-10 lbs.
I do find it to be a bit embarrassing to tell people how much weight I've lost. I'm still so big. I've got about 150 lbs to go. I feel good though. I'm the smallest I've been in 10 years.
Life is good!
Hello there, some of you may know me or at least my husband, Dave. He talks about both of us so I haven't actually done anything yet on this site, I am just getting started. I am about 3 1/2 months out and I have lost a total of 60 pounds. I am doing pretty well, I just need to get into doing some exercise now. I am having a hard time finding time to do it so I need to work on that.

Hi Bernie! I'm down 95 lbs now, but I just found out I'm severly anemiac and protein
malnourished. And I'm losing muscle. So with that being said, I don't feel very happy about almost reaching my 100 lb mark like I thought I would. I'm on iron supplements and taking 2 prenatel vitamins a day, and I'm starting to feel much better. I just can't eat much still, which bothers me because it makes it hard to get all my protein in. I'm working on it. I'll let ya know how it goes....Good luck to you you are doing awesome!!!............Dorean
I had my RNY on 3/15 and I am down 81 lbs. as of this morning - I've had a few stalls that only lasted a week but other than that I am doing great... I haven't been excercising because work has been pretty hectic but I did a lot of walking at the Omaha Zoo this weekend and it made me realize that I need to get my butt in to the gym and build up my leg muscles again... it sounds like everyone in the March group is doing great, keep up the good work and stay healthy!

Hi pa!!! Boy have I missed posting and reading. I just returned from vacation. Went to the mountains in west virginia and they were awesome. I actually walked and hiked everyday!! Got up early every morning, even in the rain!!! Made sure I kept up my 2.5 mile daily walk and it was great. Eating was a challenge, because I had little to no control...But I managed.
So, I am a bit over 4 months--hard to believe!! As of my last Dr. Appt., I have lost 80+ lbs. I never weigh at home--only at the Dr. Ofc. Because I know me...I would get all crazy about stalls, etc.
I am still loving life more than ever!! And have rediscovered how great the world is, including nature and all of its creatures!!
Have a wonderful day!!
Hugs,
lora
I had My RNY done March 13,2007. I haven't had any stalls thus far and I hope I don't but know there is possibility that I will. I have lost 80 pounds so far. My goal is to loose 150# but that may change.
Has anyone gotten peripheral Neurothopy after having there bypass. Doctors don't know why I now have it as i am not a diabetic. No one seems to have any answers so they blame it on my bypass. Other than that I am HEALTHY and happy. No more breathing meds.
Everyone keep up the good work.

Hey All, I found this group once before and promptly forgot how to get here. (I'm a little computer challenged!) I figured I'd post a rely now before I forget how to get here again. I love to read how everyone else is doing. I know we're not supposed to use someone else's progress as a measure of our own, but I think it's human nature to see how our experience compares to others. As of this morning I'm down 76# yippee. The scale has finally started moving again. I stalled for the last 2 weeks gaining and losing the same 2lbs. Talk about frustrating. However, I just reminded myself that I feel better and look better than I have in years, I have really cute clothes to wear and if I didn't lose another pound I was eternally greatful for having come this far. Then, poof in the last 3 days I lost 3 lbs.
I've already reached alot of my personal goals...I can cross my legs, no longer need my CPAP, can sit in a lawn chair, and when shopping I can pass by the Plus sizes and head for the misses section (was 24/26 now 14), I can wear dresses comfortably, and it no longer hurts to walk.
My surgeon and NUT have very different approaches than most I've read about here. They don't want us counting anything (calories or protein). My guidelines are to eat no more than 3 times/day - 1 or 2 times/day is ok. Nothing between meals and meals are not to last longer than 20 minutes. Eat protein first, then veggies, then if there's room I can have a carb. I usually don't have room for more than a bite or 2 of carbs. I was worried that this approach was not going to give me enough protein/nutrients so I had my PCP draw a full set of labs. Everything came back absolutely perfect, so I guess it's working as it should. I cannot eat untoasted breads or sugar. Eggs are touch and go. Day to day my hunger and tolerances change. One day I can eat an entire chicken breast and salad, the next day 3 bites and I feel uncomfortably full. It's weird, but I try not to dwell too much on the inconsistencies.
Good luck to everyone. Hopefully I will be able to find you again in the future.
