Hair loss
I know there has been many posts before on hair loss but I didn't save them.
Is anyone experiencing this and do you remember how long the falling out stage lasts?
I had thinning hair before surgery and was using Rogaine and using special shampoo. After surgery I am taking Biotin and praying.
It started falling out at about 2.5 months and seems to be getting worse. I am going to try to up my protein, as well.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh, my hair falls out all day long. I lose enough hair in one day to make a wig for someone. Luckily, I have thick hair and it hasn't been too noticeable. However, everywhere I go or sit, I leave a pile of hair behind. I was watching "Big Medicine" and they said it is a protein issue. I talked to my nutritionist and doctor and both said it will pass, probably in several months. But, really, I can run my hand through my hair and pull out a handfull. I'm going to buy stock in Draino.
Hi Wanda...I'm cheating...I had my surgery in Jan, but like to check other boards as well. Noticed your post and thought I'd share. I began losing my hair (profusely) at around 4- 4.5 months and it's still falling out just as bad...I also had thin hair to begin with, but it's gotten worse with about half the volume now gone. From what I have read, the hair loss begins to get worse somewhere between 4- 5 months out and can continue as long as a year out. I'm hoping it doesn't continue that long for me
I lose chunks of hair throughout the day EVERY DAY. I thought I was out of the woods so to speak because I had it in my head that the hair loss was immediate after surgery, but was sadly mistaken.
Lori,
Sorry to hear about the hair loss. It is very upsetting. I am having a hard time upping my protein. I just found out I have a large kidney stone I have to deal with now. My stomach is hurting most of the time and it's hard to eat or drink all that much.
I do hope the hair loss stops for both of us soon.

PROTEIN :). I get at least 100 grams of protein a day. I drink 2-3 shakes a day--usually 1 or 2 protein bullets (42g each) a day. I strive for everything with protein in it :).
I will 4 months on March 19 and my hair has actually grown and gotten thicker :). When I went in for my 3 month check up at the surgeon's, they were impressed how much better my hair looked since before surgery.
IN fact, they had put me on ZINC to help minimize the hair loss, but I quit taking it because the protein itself seemed to be doing the trick :).
So, you can always add zinc into your list of vitamins/calcium to take. . . it's a pretty small pill to take.
I know I am coming to the beginning of the "phase of hair loss", so hopefully I don't have any problems. I have hope though with all the new growth I am having :).
I hope you can figure it out so that you don't keep losing your hair. . .
