What new activities are you enjoying??
Jodell and I went to a Beach Boys concert last night. It was fun, and I was pleasantly surprised that my body wasn't uncomfortably squished up against some stranger. From our highest weights, Jodell and I have lost a combined 145 pounds. That makes fitting into 2 chairs so much easier. It's like not having to fit a 3rd person in 2 chairs. Instead of being uncomfortable, we were able to snuggle and just enjoy each other's company. What a change!!
In going to the concert, we both were able to wear some clothes in our new sizes. I am comfortably enjoying an XL t-shirt from a snug 3XL or possibly a 4XL 3 months ago. I also wore some 40" waist shorts, down from a 52" just 3 months ago. Jodell dropped another shirt and pant size. I was able to convince her to donate some of her too baggy clothes to her sister.
What new activities are you enjoying?

So far I am still on bedrest due to open incicison and infection of lower spine but, I have still lost 67 pounds and can bend over and reach the floor without having to rest afterwords. I can reach my upper cupboards cause part of my stomach is gone.
I know this isn't what you meant but I can not wait to get out and about and see what great things I can do now that I couldn't before. This is a great start though!
My DH brought up a tote with older clothes that I had last week and I have traded my way baggy 3x's for baggy 2x's the 1x's are a bit snug yet. My 3x's are going to my nephews girlfriend who wants WLS but has no insurance, job or any other way to pay.

Hey Guys,
I have started working out, and I enjoy being able to use the elliptical machine for 40 minutes. Five years ago I could only do three to five minutes, and I was spent. While I'm working out on the machine I'm smiling to myself thinking how wonderful it is to have the strength, and energy to workout. I love my GBP surgery, and what it is allowing me to do. I going walking in the morning, and going to try walking four miles.

I can relate to the improvements on the elliptical machine. A few months before my surgery I bought a more expensive elliptical machine only to find that I could only make it through about about 5 minutes before almost dying. I can now do over 40 minutes, and could probably do longer if I tried.
I've got to catch your inspiration to get on a morning routine. I think it'd help jump start my day.

I love getting up in the morning and looking forward to the day ......... I told my daughter 4-8 that everyday I have off is a vacation day and long as I get there help for and hour or two in the morning the rest of the day is ours to play with. They are loving this they go to the track in the am for our run walk of 2 miles and they do a few laps with me but more important they look forward to going so they keep me on track. lol Everything is an adventure I feel young !!!!!! lol
Good stuff-- I've gotta try to think of more ways to try to get my kids enjoying more physical activities with me. I've been contemplating taking morning bike rides, and inviting them to come along. I've been feeling more adventurous lately too!! That's part of the reason why I started this thread!

Hi All!
I am very excited in my change of activity level.... I used to use a wheel chair quite often when I went anywhere outside of my home. I could only stand up and walk for a very short time, without becoming out of breath and in severe pain. WELL, now things are definately improving. Last week I actually went shopping by myself, without a wheelchair. I would not have tried this before surgery at all. I looked around in the store for 45 mins. I had to sit down 3 times, not bad, for a couple of minutes. They had a bench near the dressing room. I bought myself some cute new shirts, for my trip last weekend. This was so much fun, I can't wait to continue to feel better and better.
Thanks for reading!
