SOO, on the good side I have lost 60 pds. whew hooo, that is good, although being my own worst enemy, everyone who says anything to me about it, gets my standard reply..."Thanks but I have a looooong way to go still.". I hope to lose another 90 pds. I am bummed, so I came to the place I know I can count on for support. I feel honestly like crap everyday. I am naetious? ( I know I spelt that wrong!)..and have gas pains, cramps or just plain can not stand the thought of food most of the time. Salad give me the ****s ( pardon me) and I can not stomach any pasta, rice, bread, etc..no chicken, steak did not sit well either. I am tierd of chilli and tuna, and cheese. I hate to sound negative, but honestly, I have the runs or throw up or just generally feel sick every freakin day, and I have ZERO energy so I am not exercising which also makes me feel like a failure. help? please..

Vivian, You should try to accept other people's compliments on your weight loss without qualifying it with,"Yep, but I have a long way to go." It makes people feel like you've rejected their attempt to give you kudos and celebrate your success! It's hard to be upbeat when you are having such trouble with food. My doc told me to avoid bread because the yeast makes it bubble and swell in the stomach pouch, causing nausea and vomiting. I can have a small amount of TOASTED bread, but I don't have it often. The thing to do is keep getting back on the horse when it comes to food. I try a small amount of a new food every day to see if it agrees with me. Lots of things do agree, but, for instance, smoked salmon didn't, and neither did ham! Yikes. As for the pasta, I have to chew it and chew it until it in little fragments before swallowing, to make sure it would pass through okay. Chicken--go for chicken breast, even though it is drier, because it has less fat and is easier to digest than dark meat. My doc told me to stay away from steak for at least three months post-op because of the high amount of collagen and gristle in the meat that makes it clump together and be hard to process, though I have eaten ground beef successfully. It is a terrific source of protein. I have a friend who had her surgery two days after mine, and she still exists mainly on eggs, cottage cheese, and protein shakes. It sucks, but everyone's journey is different. Keep taking your supplements and meds, though, no matter what! Best of luck! --Heather

Vivian-- Don't forget-- You are awesome. Besides on OH, do you know anyone else who has lost 60 pounds since March? You need to give yourself more credit.... this is not an easy thing to do, and you're doing great! I would focus on getting your liquids in and feeling good about yourself. Don't let yourself get on that negative train, because it sounds like that's a ride you've already been on. You may need to find an alternate outlet to deal with your emotionally low times. Many of us used to eat when we felt down, and that is part of what got us where we were. Maybe pick up a hobby that you enjoy to fill your free time. I find the days that I get in my required protein and vitamins I feel alot better energy wise, but sometimes I just get tired regardless of my diet. Don't forget that you are recovering from a major abdominal surgery. Your body is working on healing at the same time as it's adjusting to your new diet. --Dave

Hi Vivian, I can totally relate!!!! I have a hard time trying new foods too! Some days I just eat my yogurt, popsicles and protein bullet, because I don't want to upset anything and get sick. I feel sick to my stomach allot and never know how long it will last. At first I thought I was crazy, because everyone else was eating all different kinds of things, what was wrong with me? I guess it just takes some of us longer to heal..... also I would rather have a hard time and be cautious about what I eat, than be able to eat everything in sight!!!! Who knows if I would have lost very much by now if I could eat almost everything I want!!! So I guess we will just have to take it easy for awhile longer. Take Care Sister!!!! Christina

Hi Vivian, I'm sorry you're feeling down. 60 pounds is AMAZING - you have lost 6-10 lb bags of pototes! Remember to celebrate all your successes and 60 lbs is a huge success! Don't worry about how far you still to go - look at how far you've come! 60 pounds is a long way from where you were in the beginning. --Lori
