Well, the first two months breezed by and I lost 42 pounds. Now, in the course of the last week, I lost only 1 pound and I gained that back as of this morning! I'm exercising, but could I be eating too much? I noticed my appetite has increased but I try not to eat too crazy. UGH!

It could be a plateau, but that's when I have found that I lose the most inches. So try not to worry about it too much. Just keep eating right and exercising - making sure to get in all of your protein and water every day. You'll be fine. I hit a pleateau that lasted for 2 weeks very early on (weeks 2 & 3 postop), and it freaked me out at first. Then I saw myself literally shrinking before my own eyes and quit worrying about it so much. You're doing great! Keep it up and you'll reach goal before you know it! ~Robin

Great points Robin!!! I've noticed especially a noticible visible difference in Jodell when she says she hasn't been losing any weight, or is on a plateau. When you meet up with someone who hasn't seen you in a little while, they can see the difference. I've had 2 coworkers who I have minimal contact with stop me in the hall this last week because they can't get over the difference since my surgery! Chin up everyone, and focus on healthy!

Yep I hit a plateau at about weeks 3-5.... and since then I've got the weirdest losses: 2 weeks before surgery 345 day before surgery 327 2 days after surgery 334 2 weeks after surgery 303 3 weeks after surgery 301 4 weeks after surgery 307 5 weeks after surgery 302 6 weeks after surgery 295 7 weeks after surgery 290 8 weeks after surgery 288 9 weeks after surgery 282 SO I see it going down, and I've been sitting here going nuts over how slow it's going... until I put it down in writing and see it for myself, yes a bit of a plateau around week 3-5 and a bit of gain with that "time" and all... but then on the downward trend again... I guess it does help to just see it in writing.

Oh I'm glad to hear that. I had convinced myself that the weight loss was all over for me!

I found myself being co compulsive with the scale, that it was taking most of the fun out of dropping all of the weight that I'd lost. Once I relaxed a little on the scale, I realized the scale was still dropping, just not as quickly as before! You're doing great, don't get frustrated. You'll be droppin more weight before you know it! --Dave

I hit one around week two and three too. I enter my weight into fitday.com. My plateau lasted about two weeks but I dropped several pounds at once then I started losing. I have to agree that that was when I saw the inches come off. I had to relax about the scales too. I actually record my weight on Sundays but I still weigh every day so I can see what I'm doing right or wrong. If I'm up one day, I look to see if I ate something that could have been full of sodium the day before or did I get all my water in the day before. The scale is only a guide. It doesn't always tell the whole story! Hang in there, Janie
