Where is everyone????? ROLE CALL!!!
Hi Rita,
I'm still here. I continue to loose weight, but at a much slower rate than at first. I am doing great with my water and with my protein. My secret with the water is to keep a full water bottle at my desk at work while I am working. By getting the liquids in @ work, I don't have to stress about it when I get home. For protein, I like the South Beach protein bars (19 grams of protein per bar) and the South beach pizza (31 grams of protein per frozen pizza). I occasionally use the new whey protein (half at a time), but currently prefer the protein bars. When I need a snack @ work, I use a protein bar.
As many here may be aware, my wife Jodell had her surgery 3-27 as well. She has now lost 35 pounds, and I've lost 67 pounds. That's over 100 pounds between the two of us. Jodell wishes she was losing faster, but I think she's looking FAB and is TOO HARD on herself. I would bet alot of the folks on this board are being too hard on themselves.
Go by the rules, focus on healthy vs. weight lost, and enjoy life in your now lighter bods!

Hi,
I'm new to the board but had to jump in. My surgery was 3/27 and I've lost 30 pounds which is a lot but I want it to be more!! I'm a very impatient person.
My struggle: eating too fast and nausea which is so frustrating. Like the dietician said, sometimes something will agree with me and next time it won't. I'm still trying to figure it out.
Success: I'm walking 3 miles a day, at least 6 days a week. Some friends at work are walking in the morning and I'm going to do that, too. (Mostly for the company.) I listen to books on CD when I walk so the time goes by really fast and I hardly realize I've been working out. I refuse to run.
It's great to hear about what's going on with others - very inspiring.
Marsha
Hey Rita,
I'm still here as well...just not as much anymore.
RNY 3/15 318/257/187 Don't really worry about the inches thing.
Struggle: Eating real foods. I have fallen into a pattern of eating one Meal Replacement bar and three protein shakes a day. For the longest time, I could only tolerate chicken and fish. Any beef made me feel horrible. Thin pasta also did the same thing. I got so sick of chicken and fish that I just got away from even trying. With my nutritionists help I am back to trying again. But since I need to get from 110 to 135g of protein a day it is very tough to put in anything that is not protein.
Success: About 3 weeks ago I got a little sick of just walking on the treadmill. So I started a slow jog. I have never been a runner but this felt really good. It also stimulated some serious weight loss. That week I pushed it to the point where I could actually jog a 5K loop on the machine. I ran into a friend (same age) that had just finished running a 5K race that went right by my house. So I tried it last week. Definately harder but was able to fini**** in 40 minutes. Sunday, I did it in 38:30.
My goal now is to actually run in a 5K race this fall. I am hoping that by then I might be able to do it in 30 minutes. That would still have me finishing last, but finishing none the less.
Good luck with the struggles and congrats on the successes!
Dave
Melissa here. 281/248 dont know the inches.
strugles: eating enough. Im never hungry. I often forget to eat on the weekends until Im so tired I cant keep my head up. Suddenly I remember, oops you only had some breakfast this am. Its better during the work week. I guess because of break times.
Trying to cook more. I was on puree until last week so, now I get to experiment more and get some different tastes in. Funny how when your never hungry you cant make up your mind what to make for dinner. Happens to me all the time. I remember before surgery I would plan dinner at breakfast. Huge change for me!!!!

Hi...Sadie here. It's so great to "see" everyone and hear what's going on.
Ok, me: 317/277/150
Don't know about inchest.
struggles: protein and fluid, just like everyone else. But I rely on the 42gm protein bullets and they make up the difference.
what i'm proud of: i went to the gym for the first time today and had an hour long work out. And lived to tell.
focus for next week: make working out a habit (gawd...is that possible?)
Best of luck, everyone!! And keep in touch.
Sadie

HI Vivian here. Surgery was RNY on March 20th, 309/265/160 not sure about the inches.
Biggest struggle..well had a stricture at 6 weeks out and well...it was awful. still scared to eat much variety.
I never get enough protein, and still struggle with the water..although I discovered Nestea Zero with splenda..and it is really really good.
I have been sick alot..chest pains and throwing up..need to lie down..light headed..so not exercising much at all...need to step up with that..but still feeling better knowing I am on my way to better health and not still killing myself with donuts and ice cream..
that was a bad feeling. I am being proactive..so its all good.
tell us what you are eating..
Vivian
