Protein Shots 42 G protein in 3 oz.
Hi everyone!!
I just wanted to tell you about a protein "shot" I have been taking for the past few days. It is called "New-Whey" Liquid Protein. They are in these 3 0z test tube looking things. I got mine and the Vitamin Shoppe. They were 12 for 29.99.
They taste a little syrupy but better if you mix them with water or crystal lite. They also had some other powder drinks there that I am going to try that taste like lemonade and different flavors. Right now the new whey i am taking is fruit punch flavored and it taste better than the thick protein shakes...some days I drink it straight and others I mix it in with my drink.
Just thought I'd let everyone know! Its a great way to get your protein in!

Aren't they great? I've been using these exclusively since my surgery. I like to pour it in a wine glass and drop a few ice cubes in it and sip it like I'm having a glass of wine. I have found these to be much easier to tolerate than the powders. It has no chalky texture at all - like you said it is a little thick (almost like uncongealed jello), but the taste isn't bad. Besides it is only 3 ounces anyway - so it is gone in a flash! I do the 25g protein ones because someone told me that we couldn't absorb more than 30g of protein at once.

I also have been using them from the beginning and I also heard that we could only absorb 20-30 grams of protein per hour. So I take 1/2 of the 42g vile at a time. Cheaper that way . I take it just like cough medicine 1 1/2 oz at a time. Making sure to space it out so I won't be getting more than 20 g (between food and shots) in any given hour. Sooooo much easier than anything else. I now only need to take it once a day, sometimes twice. Depending on my food protein. I read so many had such a hard time getting all the protein in. But thanks to my shots, I had an easy time of it.
Hi Kat,
I reccomend the New Whey Liquid Protein Vials in either the 25g per 2.9 oz. or the 42g protein per 2.9oz. If you get the 42g, split them up - do not drink all of it at one time because from what I have heard our bodies cannot abosrb more than 30g protein at once. I get them from this web site
http://www.wholesalesupplementstore.com/new-whey-liquidprotein.html . They are cheaper on this sight than at the Vitamin Shoppe. I use one of the 25g ones per day along with my regular high protein 2 oz. soft meals (3 meals and 1 snack per day). It's working for me - I've lost 28.2 pounds and am 30 days post op. Good luck to you! SOunds like you are losing a lot weight! Congrats!

Excellent information-- I bought single packets of powders to make into a shake to try after surgery- because people were saying your tastes change afterwards and not to stock up on anything. My surgery is tomorrow- so I'm going out to night to get some 'test tubes' Thank you so much!!

Sherry...it has 190 calories. I take one a day. There is no sugar in it. I know that might be higher in calories than some, but for the amount of protein you get in one shot it is worth it! Also...if your body can only absorb 30 grams at a time then you could take these tubes and just drink half of them in the am and the other half in the pm...still taking in less to get more. (they are resealable)!

I asked my nutritionist about these protein bullets and she said they are NO GOOD for protein. She said not only do they "make up" an ingredient, but our healing bodies cannot absorb the protein (which we desperately need). Check the back of the vile; it says aparatime, which is not a natural ingredient. She said to buy 100% whey protein products like the shakes, isopures, etc.
I was really bummed too. She gave me some more advice for the future: if it seems too good to be true, it is!
Good luck all!
