2 week Update
Hello everyone!
First I am so sorry I have been so absent! I started back to work last week and my schedule has been horrendous!!!!! I had my two week follow up yesterday and it went really well! I had a sonogram and no blood clots...praise Jesus! AND by the doctors scales I have lost 21 lbs...but by mine I have lost 23. I have not lost any weight since Thursday!!!! GRRRRR....but I started on soft foods on Friday. I am trying to get my protein and water in but it is tough especially when I drink too much water I puke...even sipping it makes me nauseous. I have found that the hardest part of this whole thing is not drinking while you eat. I haven't formally started walking (there is no place to walk by where i live) but I walk a lot for work and I chase around a five year old who has t-ball three times a week. As soon as I get the clear to do heavy exercise I'm off to the gym..i love the elypticals!! My energy level has increased over the past few days and I am not longer in severe pain. I can sleep on the right side (wooohooo!!) and I am still a little sore on the left which i'm sure is normal. My incisions are healing up great as well!!
It is amazing the difference one week will make!!!!! Well I must go get ready for work!
On a side note: I just got accepted into the alternative teaching program in Texas!!!!! I have to take my certification tests in May and a course this summer and hopefully will find a job soon and be done with sales FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a blessed day!!!
With a smile,
Rita

Hi Rita,
Congrats on all of your successes - the weight loss, the acceptance to the teaching program, etc. That is all super! I am really happy for you!
I too am stuck at the 20-22 lb. loss mark and I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. My weightloss also stopped when I started soft foods. Everyone here has reassured me that it will pick up again soon. They also reminded me to look at the big picture - When is the last time you lost 21-23 pounds on any diet in a month even? So even if you don't lose another pound this month, you will be ahead of where you have been in the past. It's very hard to keep all of this in mind - especailly if you are as impatient as I am - and when you need reassurance that this surgery is going to work - that you won't fail at yet another weight loss attempt (at least, that's how it is for me). We can do this though - just stay off the scale as much as possible!!!!
You're doing great! So cut yourself some slac****ep doing what youare doing - following doctor's orders, and it will pay off for you in the long run!
Good Luck,
Robin
Rita,
sounds like you are doing an awesome job! I have to agree that soft foods completely slow things down. I have only lost about 11 pounds and i will be two weeks on Thursday. Course I came home 6 pounds heavier from all the saline stuff. But at my one week follow up, doc put me on soft foods. I just really didn't want to do it, but I would be stir crazy with all liquids. I can only dream of hitting 21 pounds in a month if things don't kick in.
Sounds like you are getting exercise especially having a 5 year old! I wish you the best and I hope you are proud of what you've done so far.
Blessings

Glad to hear you are doing so well. If it's any condolence, I had about a week where I was almost at a stand still as far as weight loss goes. That was truly a bummer, as I had been used to losing a few pounds a day. For me, the most exciting part of losing the weight has been watching my BMI go down. If I were to be submitted to the insurance company today for surgery, they would decline me as my BMI is now down to 36.0!!! I know it may sound strange, but I decided last week that it's OK with me if my weight loss were to slow down.
Before you know it, you will be over this hump! By the way you act like 23 pounds isn't totally awesome!! I'd say you're on track for the 40 pounds in the first months!
As for the teaching thing, that is awesome news. I think it goes to show that sometimes you take control of one part of your life, and others start to fall in line. As for chasing kids around, I think you've discovered the secret to my success. We have 4 little ones under the age of 8.
I know what it's like to want to be done with a particular type of job. I was working as a bill collector for several years, and I was so glad when I was finally able to move on....
