Hey everybody I had surgery 03/02/07. Now that we are in our in our 2nd month how did it go? myself, I stay hungry a lot. I am starting to try solids but I don't think I am eating enough because I just stay hungry all the time. Also, I am frustrated a little because I've only lost but 24lbs. I am like is it broken or what... Let me here your stories Mo

I think that 24 lbs. is pretty good. Congrats. Maybe you're hungry because you're not getting in enough protein. You can supplement with the protein shake. Those make me feel very satisfied. It would be a really good idea to attend a support group also. I find them so helpful. PS. DRINK THA****ER. (LOL)

You are hungry because soft food and liquids don't sit in your pouch for very long. Solid foods will stay with you longer and you won't be so hungry. If I am not getting enough protein, I get that dizzy-weak all over feeling, so protein shakes help. Now that I can eat solid food, it is a little easier to get more protein in.

Hi. I still get hungry too, but it will get better when you can have solids and they sit in your pouch longer. Try maybe having some thicker soft foods like cottage cheese, low fat cheese, or canned tuna, chicken, etc which are also higher in protein. I find those stay in there longer. I am limited to 300 cals per day, so I can't do the shakes and stay within my guidelines too good, but I do better when I keep drinking between meals and do those thicker soft foods. 24 pounds is great so don't let it get you down! The average for each month is 20-30lbs in the first 3-4 months after surgery, so you are doing just fine! I am only down 15lbs from my surgery morning weight, but I know that I have to keep going!
