Hi All -
I had my Lap RNY on Tuesday morning at 7:15am. Tuesday was pretty rough, slept most of the day. Wednesday was significantly better! I was up and walking around a good portion of the day. It really does feel better to walk than to sit.
I was very lucky to have a fantastic surgeon! Dr. Waldrep sincerely cares about his patients and he's quite funny ("we may have to talk later because I can't find my watch"). The confidence I felt in him gave me such peace about it all, I can't put it into words. I feel so lucky!
I came home last night (Wednesday) and slept really well. I got up this morning and took a shower, made some jello and chicken broth, then took a nap. That did tire me out, but I don't have any pain. Sore, yes, but certainly not "pain". I haven't had to take any of my pain meds, which is great.
I can't believe I really did this! I'm not hungry. The broth and jello are satifying me, but the water does "sit" in my chest as many others have mentioned. I think I've figured out a way to breathe to help it go down. I can actually hear it going down, which is actually kind of cool.
Need to go walk some more... I'll be back later.

It's pretty new that they are sending people home on the 2nd day. It was actually the evening of the 2nd day. They don't send everyone home at the same time. Those who are doing well, walking, etc. go home. Those who have a lot of pain, nausea, not walking, don't go home. Once I ate the broth, and everything was fine, I knew I was comfortable going home. (Yes, I had the blue dye, but the broth felt like "food".)
I'm still feeling excellent. I have had no pain at all since I've been home, no pain meds, nothing. I was sore until today. Today I feel like myself, completely and totally like myself. However, it is a great excuse not to do all the housework.
Honestly, my surgeon has been fantastic. He is the Medical Director of the Baratric Unit of this hospital - all they deal with are those coming out of WLS. I received FANTASTIC care! I AM SOOOO happy that I did this!
Tomorrow, I go back to the doc's office and then I'll get to eat pureed food! YIPPEE!!
Oh, and I've lost 13 pounds!
