Hi Everybody I just got the RNY surgery done on 3/22/07. I'm barely on the full liquid diet and feel guilty for eating. I don't eat as much as I'm suppose to and most of the time I am not even hungry. Is it normal to feel like this? Another thing that is driving me crazy is the cream soups that are in my diet. Does anybody have any suggestions on any new ideasfor cream soups?

My immediate post surgery diet was as follows: Clear liquids only for one week (no protein drinks), then full liquids for one week (with protein drinks). I "fudged" a bit on my liquids because *I* was hungry too. BUT if your "fudge" is liquids, it will pass through you... and yogurt will melt and leave the pouch in about 20 minutes... so if you're eating it over 30 minutes, you will not get the full sensation from the pouch. It's VERY hard to get the right amount of calories/protein in while on liquids, don't stress over that, make sure you're getting your full 48 oz water every single day though, that's a must. Here's an example of my "full liquid" days: Breakfast: Carnation sugar free instant breakfast in 4 oz milk - 100 cal, 10 g protein Snack: Protein shake 3 oz (my custom recipe) 100 cal, 15 g protein Lunch: Blue Bunny Lite 85 (or Dannon Lite N Fit) Yogurt 4 oz (total both servings 60 cal 5 gr protein) Snack: Protein shake 3 oz (my custom recipe) 100 cal, 15 g protein Dinner: Blue Bunny Lite 85 (or Dannon Lite N Fit) Yogurt 4 oz Evening snack (optional): Protein Shake 3 oz (my custom recipie) 100 cal, 15g protein All that being said, I could NOT extend my meals over 30 minutes when doing liquids. I had no problem feeling full, and usually I did my meals over 15 minutes. Think about this.... no sphincter on the bottom of the stomach, so no way to hold the liquids in, they just rush right through the pouch and you're not feeling satisfied at all. Don't worry, this stage will pass. As long as you are hydrated, there's not a lot you can do wrong The custom recipie there is posted on the Louisiana state board, and I still use it daily for snacks, even though now I'm on solids http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/LA/postdetail/13700.html?vc=0 Some other ideas for full liquids: Chicken or Beef Boullion in 4 oz water - add unjury protein and mashed potato flakes to thicken it.... just barely, not more than a couple teaspoons. I also used my magic bullet to whir up some whole frozen strawberries with splenda and water or milk for a "dessert" slushie when craving**** bad. I also did some broccoli cheese soups, I love tomato soup too (especially from La Madeleine). When you get to soft foods, skip eggs for a while, they just don't sit well for most people until several months out. I learned the hard way. OH and don't try to take a sip of water thinking it'll help stuff go through if you ate too much.... rinse and spit if you need to wet your mouth... the sip was the last straw that made my pouchie HURT!
