Home from Hospital - 3/20 RNY

Well, all went well and I am home less than 48 hours after my surgery on Tuesday. I am sore and tired, but I am doing ok. Surgery took 1 hr 15 min and went very well. I had a hard time waking up after surgery and spent a couple of hours in postop - longer than usual - but they would have released me yesterday if they could have. No complications so far and I have been able to keep down everyhting despite forgetting to take small drinks a few times. I contribute my quick recovery to the exercises we were given in surgery prep class. It made getting up and around so easy after surgery. I would recommend them to everyone. Anyway, I am sore sitting here so gonna go for now. I'll check back tomorrow. Sherry

Glad you're doing so well Sherry!! Good luck with the healing and hang in, the next week is a really rough ride emotionally... but I think you'll do well with it, just remember we're here for you!

I had my surgery on Tuesday also. I got home last night. I'm pretty sore, not hungry at all, that's for sure. the pain meds help, but man, they leave me pretty dopey feeling. Anyhow, congrats, glad we're both on the other side now!

Thanks everyone! I am doing good today but still sore and loopey from the meds. I don't want to give those up just yet though. It has been a little stressful here because my family picked up a stomache bug somewhere while i was in the hospital, so hubby isn't able to do as much as I had hoped to let me rest. I am praying that I don't get it either so being careful to wash hands and keep to myself. It seems to be a fast moving virus so hopefully they will all be better tomorrow. The kids are on spring break all this next week, so trying to figure out how to handle that one. Keeping the kids busy and happy while recovering - that's a trick! Sherry

OH Sherry, I"m sure sorry to hear about your 'bugs'. My Emma had it a few weeks ago and it lasted an entire week. She missed an entire week of school. Kinda wi**** would have been during her spring break, but oh well. I missed two days of work that I needed to use for next week after surgery. My mom was great enough to keep her the rest of the week. And next week she gets to take care of me!! Anyway, I've been thinking about you often. Just keep your distance if you can and get lots of rest.
