Had surgery 3/14 - Feeling Okay... Have questions tho!!!!!
I had laproscopic rny... 6 holes in my belly.... First day my heart rate was outrageous so they wouldn't let me outta bed (which really concerned me because everyone told me WALK WALK WALK~!!! and for them to not even let me out.. I thought I'm gonna have the worst recovery!!!!!
After my 150+ heart rate laying in bed went down I went to a normal room and got released Friday morning.. (MY back was KILLING me from those beds! EEK!)
So I"m home now, I don't feel awful, I've been keeping up with the liquid loretab.
However, I forgot to write it down or ask.. *SHRUG* am I supposed to be working on my protein now?? What about any vitamins??? From what I read in my notes I should be taking the calcium tums.. and I don't have anything written about the protein.. (IM going to call tomorrow to find out for sure.. but... i feel stupid not knowing) Here I thought i knew it all
SO far so good.. but I haven't Pooped!!! HEHEHE... I was so excited when I finally passed gas today!!! before its just been belching up a storm! HAHAHAHAH...
When should i be a lil concerned about the poop?? I'm gonna tell them tomorrow also... I guess i just wanna know before i call them
So far so good tho and I'm home (surgery was 2 hours from home).. so life is okay so far but I've only been home and alone for about 2 hours now
thanks for all your support!

Good that things went well with the surgery. Now it sounds like you just need to get instructions for what to do. Did your program give you anything in writing regaridng post-op diet and vitamins? We had to take a 10 week class and then got everything in print. My workbook says chewable multivitamins 2 times per day and B12 500mcg in the morning during the first 6 weeks. Then it's different but you need to contact your program about what, how much and when. We were not instructed to do tums at all. As for protein, phase 2 full liquids my program says 20mg a day, phase 3 is 40mg a day and phase 4 is 60 mg a day. Each program is a little different, but mine did not focus on doing protein the first week - just making sure to get fluids in to prevent dehydration. Call your program again to get the instructions clarified.
Good luck!

Hey Danielle,
We should become RNY buddies. I had the surgery 3/15 and came home Saturday. I had to insist on getting up and walking the day of my surgery. After that I got up several times a day. I started on prevacid solutabs immediately and today began my protein drinks. I have gotten up and walked a lot at home too. I have ran a low grade fever for a few days but it goes away with using my spirometer and liquid tylenol.
Today was my fifth day out and I had a Tbs cream of potato and 1T skim milk blended. Oh it was so good!
Good luck to you.........by the way, the poo has already visited here on Saturday.
Walk.....it may bring it on.

I had my surgery on 3/20 and got home yesterday. I'm so glad you asked the pooping question too. I haven't pooped yet either, but I started passing gas like crazy last night. This morning it sounded like I has an ass kazoo. I'm scared it's going to hurt to poop. I'm taking my liquid loretab and it helps but is sure does make me feel dopey.
HAHA... Well... I had surgery 14th, didnt pass any gas till 18th (except I was beltching up a storm!!!!!!!!!!!) and I never pooped until the 22nd, but now I have no probs HAHAHAHA...
I felt like my friends daughter "I POOPED IN THE POTTY" I couldnt help but to text her on her cell "I POOPED" I've never been so glad to poop in my life
I was taking the liquid loratab too.. id just take it and go to bed... I stopped taking it the 20th I think??? I still have a bottle but.. eh.. I dont seem to need it so I'll save the bottle for another night HAHAHA
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
