Hello! Well, my surgeon couldn't have been more pleased with how my surgery went. He said my pre-op diet really shrank my liver which is helpful during surgery. He also said that it showed that I was committed to making life long changes to my eating habits. I had a really weird experience with the anesthesia... I can remember everything up to the point I passed out.. I also felt like I couldn't breathe right before I conked out which was kind of scary but I thought, "Hey, I'm in the hospital - they know what they are doing.." It took me 2 hours to wake up from anesthesia and I was pretty groggy the rest of the day and in to the night... The pain wasn't bad at all - just try to stay on top of it and you will do fine...I couldn't sleep with the pressure cuffs on my legs and my IV machine clicking all night long. My second night I was able to sleep... I am taking fluids well, but I do feel hungry... I'm sure it doesn't help that I keep watching the Food network... I should stop that... I am almost under 300 lbs. now and started at 320. My husband says that he can already tell a difference in my face and in the size of my belly. I can't wait to see how things will progress over the next few weeks...

Hang in there The first few days home were good for me, but the day 4-9 I hit a bad 'what did I do?' spot where I got very depressed and was very emotionally struck by not being allowed anything more than clear liquids.... I believe healing wise it was good, but I did not enjoy the grieving for the meals I could not have. So watch yourself, don't be alone, have lots of support for when that phase strikes... the good news is it's only a little while, then you're stronger and happier. HUGS

That is so great! Glad everything went ok. It's always good to hear how things for others in the hospital. How did it work for your son? Do you have other children? My surgery is Tuesday and I have 2 boys ages 3 and 6. It's so unusual to see anyone here who also has children who are young. How did you make it in the days before surgery? I am so hungry I can hardly stand it. Hubby went out to get some more broth which helps for awhile, but I would love something more now. I am just looking forward to surgery being over and getting back to eating something again. Kepe in touch! Sherry
