I had my surgery on Tuesday March 13, 2007. I had no complications and my hospital stay was only 2 days. I am now at home with little pain. my only hold up is getting in these fluids its soooo hard.

I am scheduled to have my Lap RNY in April and I am afraid of the pain. I was told it's very painful from a friend that had it done. I just want to prepare myself so I will know what to expect. Can you guys help me know what to expect. I will be talking to the doctor the day before too.

Hang on Michelle, the first few days seemed sooo easy.... (I'm 11 days out today). Then I hit this wall on day 4... that left me very down and struggling with my desire to eat versus my new pouchie feeling full with jus****er. Don't let it get to you, have lots of support ready for your call/cry... and hang on tight... today is day 11 and it IS getting better... but wow that week (from day 4-9) was very very difficult for me. Few choices, and not one that I wanted... watching others eat... wow... very big ticket depression came on... but OH and my hubby helped me through and now... day 11, I'm much more confident and much happier with the new me... not to mention I lost another 4 lbs since day 9 Just stick to the water and hang in there.

Wow, that is such a relief to hear! I also had surgery on 3/13. The first 2 days were a piece of cake. Then yesterday was a little hard, and today has been really tough. All of the things you mentioned...especially that desire to eat vs. feeling full of water. It is hard! I'm just glad to hear that I'm not the only one, and that it gets better!

Glad to know I could help Gwen I've been researching this stuff (while trying to get approval) for 4 years almost. So I've heard of the phases and the feelings associated with it... it's just not so simple sometimes to step back and say "oh, that's the part they were talking about"... I had to get past that "grieving for never eating again" phase and the "what did I do?" phase to see that I DO get past it to the "yaaay Look at me, I can do it!" part And of course I'm expecting stuff like that to happen again.... but I made it through the first one... and please, watch yourself, don't be alone, and most of all DON"T STOP DRINKING... I can see it's sooo easy for that depression to trigger an "I give up" attitude, that could be deadly... so you hang in there, we are all here for you and it WILL GO AWAY SOON :big big hugs:

Hi Michelle The fluids are super hard, I know! I'm 11 days out and try to keep a bottle or glass of water with me at all times. It's starting to get hot here in Arizona, so I feel more inclined to drink. Just keep sipping - it all adds up. It sounds like a silly game to play, but, psychologically, it worked for me to aim for clear urine. Haha Good luck and keep asking questions - OH is a wonderful resource! Nicole
