Dave's home at last!
After a miserable 4 days in the hospital, I am finally home and feeling pretty good. My spirits are up, and liqids are going down!!! I was extremely miserable almost constantly in the hospital except when I was asleep. I finally requested a sleep pill for my last night, and had my first good night of sleep. I felt like I really had to be proactive in asking for nausia medicine and pain medicine. That is a bummer because I felt so crummy in those days following surgery. All in all, they did the test on my pouch, and it wasn't leaking, and we did some other tests as well while I was in the hospital.
Synopsis: glad to be home and feeling good. Not sure yet if I'll recommend the procedure to anyone with the information I have now. I know everyone's a little different, but my last 4 days have been pretty miserable.
Hi Dave!
I'm sorry you had such a lousy time at the hospital! Is Jodell still planning on having her surgery. From the plethora of journals I have read on this site it is not uncommon for someone to feel like the wouldn't reccommend the surgery to anyone during the first few weeks. In fact one of my best friends mother had it last May (this is when I started thinking about it) and i saw her about two weeks after and she would not comment on if she would do it again..then I talk with her a month later and she said she couldn't believe she hadn't done it sooner!
Lets pray hard that you feel this way in a few weeks too!!! Just wait till those pounds start slipping away! My brother had his last August and he had SEVERE diabetes and major heart condition (he had a bypass on his heart about three years ago) he came out with flying colors and has now lost 100 lbs!!
You can do it!!! This is the HARDEST part! I say all this not knowing what you went through at the hospital I realize BUT I hope that you will feel better soon!!

Hi Dave. Glad to hear you are home and pretty much ok besides the miserable hospital stay. Sometimes people feel aweful and have complications but it's not common and is important to stay positive for the longer term results. You will get better!! It is a good sign that you are home though and can relax better. Drink those fluids and take care!

PS My surgery is Tuesday, and I just started my sugar free clear liquid diet today. Hope I can make it.
Dave, my first 36ish hours was like that, only awake long enough to groan for nausea meds. My doc used a self administered pain pump (PCA pump) so I didn't have to call for that... about 36 hrs in my nausea disappeared and I was discharged when tolerating water (next am) and SF clears.
I'm sorry it was so rough for you... I can tell you the first 2 days home were great, lots of energy, picked up my spirits well... then day 4-9 were harder (mostly head hunger issues and depression over WANTING food that my body could not hold or digest.... day 11 today and doing very well, now that I'm eating some thicker stuff. I can't tell you what a celebration it is to know I'm down by 32 lbs!!! (counting 2 weeks preop liquid diet too).
Chin up, you will feel better soon And you'll have some measurable victory on the scales too
