im amazed and so are my friends and family at how little I can eat and I like it this way. Only thing that has me concerned,(and I will talk to my nutritionist about this) is that I can't seem to get in the 500-700 calories a day...I only get in about 200-300, but I do get my 50 gms. of protein. Anybody else having this problem, is it ok?

Hi Theresa We had the same date for surgery. I had the RNY. I was told by the hospital nutrionist to have 60-80 g of protein which I have been getting from protein shakes (made with water). I have been able to get 500-600 caloires by adding sugar free jellos, puddings, soups and so on. If you go to low on calories, it will actually slow down your weight loss or so I heard Jill

I had my surgery on March 2nd. I too was not getting enough calories. I was in so much pain from hunger that I felt like crying and calling the dr and say take it out. I was so full of regret that I hated what I had done. Yesterday I went on pureed or mushy foods and I felt so much better today. I was on the 50 gms of protein too.

I have been looking for lap banders to talk too. I have not had the surgery yet. Can you tell me what it was like after the surgery? Was there pain? Were you weak, etc? Thanks for anything you can tell me! Leslie

Hi Leslie I was banded on last Thursday (3/08) and everything was fine. The pain was minimal (maybe 3 on a scale from 1-10) and I was up the day after surgery walking around. I took some pain medicine the night I came home and early the next morning because I was scared that I would start hurting, but it made me dizzy. After Saturday I was feeling fine and havent started having hunger pains yet. Feel free to send me a message if you have any more questions. I have lost 7 pounds so far.

I had surgery 3/6/2007. less than a week ago. I didn't realize until now I was not a normal recovery. My liver had attached to my stomach (no spleen to keep the 2 apart) and they made an additional 2 1/2 in*****ision. I assume it was for that reason, post-op appt is Thursday. Anyways, be sure to get the fluids. I became severely dehydrated needing an extra day in the hospital. Other people I know who have had lap bands say it was easy and a quick recovery. I just can't stress the fuids enough though. Allison
