Yeah, I'm home from the hospital. I am very sore, but the pain is not too bad. It felt great to be in my own bed last night. Any advice would be most appreciated. Lisa

Congratulations and glad everything went well. My surgery is still to come, but I would suggest you just follow whatever your team has instructed for you to do. It seems like there are so many different things to do, so it just depends on what you people tell you is best. And make sure to get your fluids and protein as that seems to be so important in the first few weeks for preventing dehydration and getting your through each day. Hope everything continues to improve. Sherry

Lisa, I got home from hospital 3/9 and I'm with you on the "clueless, now what?" bench. I think though that the best places to get advice are the state boards (if yours is active) and if not, pick a nearby state board and jump in I found the Texas board very alive (aka TMB) and I've been trying to keep the Louisiana board more active (I'm in Louisiana temporarily for my surgery, but live in Texas full time post Katrina). Anyway, the longer term postops probably can give better advice than me, I'm in your same shoes What did you get done, and where? I had Lap RNY proximal by Dr Richardson in New Orleans, on 3/7/07

Kat, hope you are doing well, I feel a little bit better. Still not able to get all the water or protein in yet. I had the lap RNY by Dr. Hong in Portland Oregon on 3/6/07. I just want to chew something. didn't think I would feel this way but I do. Only one week to go until pureed and soft foods yeah!!!! Let me know how you are doing. Lisa

all is well, except hard to do just liquids or two weeks post-op. I actually have eaten some soft foods, mashed potatoes, soups and scrambled eggs. I have done fine, but I get full really fast and if you ignore that feeling, it hurts. hard to get all the water in and the protein drink was fine the first week, but now if I look at it I feel nauseated. gotta go to GNC and get a protein that I take in one gulp because that shake can take hours and hours to get down and makes me feel sick. good luck with your surgery, you will do great.
