Topic: Any one watch The Biggest Loser last night?
I did.. and was very sad to see Patty go.. (She was my favorite... SOOOO Beautiful!!!) One thing really .. and I mean REALLY hit home. Bob said to her, you are worth it.. and wanted to hear her say it.. she whispered.. he said louder.. and she couldn't say it.. I began thinking.. I don't know if I could say it.. how is it that we get in this mindset? Is it from years of thinking you aren't good enough because of our weight? Or is it a combination of weight, and media thoughts on overweight people..
I don't know. But I do know this... as hard as it is to admit, we are worth it! We are worth fighting for... Our happiness, its worth fighting for!
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Great Idea.
Here's mine.
Finally found a good fish recipe I can make! I normally HATE Salmon and have NEVER been able to cook fish properly, but this recipe has me eating Salmon once a week at least! It takes maybe 5 minutes!
I normally just cut it down for 2 servings.
Asian Grilled Salmon
1 side fresh salmon, boned but skin on (about 3 pounds)
For the marinade:
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons good soy sauce
6 tablespoons good olive oil
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
Light charcoal briquettes in a grill and brush the grilling rack with oil to keep the salmon from sticking.
While the grill is heating, lay the salmon skin side down on a cutting board and cut it crosswise into 4 equal pieces. Whisk together the mustard, soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic in a small bowl. Drizzle half of the marinade onto the salmon and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.
Place the salmon skin side down on the hot grill; discard the marinade the fish was sitting in. Grill for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish. Turn carefully with a wide spatula and grill for another 4 to 5 minutes. The salmon will be slightly raw in the center, but don't worry; it will keep cooking as it sits.
Transfer the fish to a flat plate, skin side down, and spoon the reserved marinade on top. Allow the fish to rest for 10 minutes. Remove the skin and serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.

Barbara,
I agree about the vitamins. It scares me what could happen in the future if I slacked off in this area and there is no quick fix. I haven't gone through all of these changes to loose the benefit later in life.
The other thing I don't ever want to think I have been cured from obesity. This is has to be a life long change in order to have a healthier, longer life. I'm in it for the long run.
Have a great weekend. Rick
Topic: RE: I have a question about Walking Across America
I'm with you mimi. I don't have a pedometer and am only tracking the miles I know I do in addition to my normal steps in the day. Example, the past two days I walked at lunchtime to the Starbucks and back which totals 1.2 miles round trip. So I have 2.4 miles in for Mon and Tue. But, unfortunately my physical activity is going to be cut to a halt right now, at least for a few days until I see what is wrong with my knee. Out of the blue it started hurting two nights ago, last night it had me up in the middle of the night for an hour or so, after it took me so long to get comfortable and get to sleep earlier when I went to bed. I made a docs appt. this morning, she is sending me to an orthopedic doctor. Fortunately I was able to get an appt. there asap for tomorrow morning. My PCP thinks its a ligament or something. There is some swelling but not a lot. I can walk, that is the least of the discomfort. The real problems is it stiffening, tightening and being hard to step on and walk after sitting. It hurts to straightening it, and to bend it. So who knows what it is. I didnt do anything out of the normal.
I've had this silly thought. I've been overweight, obese my whole life. But for being so, I surprisingly had good knees. Never had an ache or pain in my legs carrying those 350 lbs around for so many years. And now that I weigh so much less and am active, I'm going to have knee problems? How special would that be. I saved my knees all these years, now being healthy and active is going to ruin them. LOL I sure hope not!!

Barbara,
I don't know if I'm a "write it down person", but I am a list maker. Either on paper or in my head. I like to be able to cross things off the list. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment. So with that in mind and your daily reminder I will now take my vitamins and cross that off my mental list of "must dos" for today.
Have a great weekend with the grandkids.
