Jannine, Thanks for the tip on the cider, it sounds wonderful. I have to be careful with the bread products as well. Last week my wife made dinner early and I wasn't very hungry so I just had a bread stick (stuffed with cheese) and then half of another one. Let me tell you I HURT. My stomach hurt so bad I could hardly stand it. I ended up going for a walk and was half bent over the whole time. My wife was really worried because it was the first time I took a cell phone with me walking in case the pain got so bad. Like everything else, I got through it, but I hope I learned my lesson. Have a great day, Rick

Barbara, Welcome back. I'm glad you had a great weekend. We had all 5 or our grandkids over the weekend. They do keep one busy. Things are really cooling off here and the rain is coming. I think the wind is going to get credit for some of my walking if it is at my back and I think I'll count it double if I'm walking into it. Have a great day, Rick

Welcome back! I'm glad you had a great time with those grandkids. They are certainly lucky to have you for their "MeMe". Surely you jest! No DD in TN??? How can that be? I thought they were EVERYWHERE. I know the nuts are tough. I'm headed for NYC today and when I travel, nuts or trailmix is the easiest thing for me to take. It doesn't need to be kept cold and I can munch on it whenever I need to. The issue is that sometimes I munch on it even when I don't need to. I always have difficulty with water intake while traveling so for the next couple of days, that's my focus. Have a great day! Hugs, Stephanie

Mornin' Rick! I've never actually tried Turducken but I've seen one. I'm not sure our stomachs were intended to eat a duck inside of chicken that nests inside of a turkey! Stuffing is a tough one for me. I really love my cranberry stuffing at holiday time. I'm not making Thanksgiving dinner this year as I'll be recovering from PS. This is a good thing! I won't be tempted by my stuffing and I won't have tons of leftovers! Have a great day. Hugs, Stephanie

Jannine, thanks so much for posting about the SF Spiced Cider Mix. I really missed my hot apple cider last winter and wasn't aware there was a sugar free varitey. I'll look for it next weekend at the grocery store. I love, love, love spiced cider with cinnamon and cloves. It's such a treat. Now I can still enjoy it! Hugs, Stephanie

5. Cider Who doesn't love a cup of warm cider? You might not want to skip this traditional treat altogether, but with a sugar-laden 200 calories in 16 ounces, the sweet drink should probably be considered a dessert substitute rather than a beverage. Rick..I found this product last year when I was really wanting Apple Cider and it got me thru the holidays..it is from Alpine from Krusteaz Spiced Cider Sugar Free Apple flavored and it has only 15 calories per packet when mixed with 6-8 oz of water...during the holidays I bought every box my local store had and then made a crockpot full for Thankgiving and Christmas and added my spices, nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, cloves and no one could tell that it was sugar free...it was great... 6. Stuffing At 358 calories and 18 grams of fat per cup, there's a reason they call it stuffing. The high-carb turkey companion may be appearing on lots of menus this fall, not to mention its starring role on Thanksgiving Day, but take it easy if you're trying to keep the fall weight gain to a minimum. My mom usually makes the suffing and since my WLS my pouch does not like her stuffing so I make myself some stovetop and only allow myself a small serving miss pouch still gets a little crazy with bread stuff.... 7. Candy apple An apple alone is a pretty healthy fall fruit somewhere in the 60-100 calorie range. Coat it in caramel, however, and you have quite a different story. A large candy apple with caramel usually weighs in around 540 calories. Avoiding this autumn treat will be a boon for your dental bills and your figure. Carmel apples...loved them..have not tried one and will keep it that way....I did however find a product this past weekend of a carmel dip that has no sugar, no calories, not fat, no carbs, no protein, not anything...little worried tho..if it has none of the bad stuff then what exactly is in the jar...? Things that make you go hmmmmm. 8. Turducken This combo wonderbird is a trendy entree you might want to forgo. It contains turkey, duck and chicken wrapped together for a new twist on the usual Thanksgiving meal. In terms of your diet, that twist may be for the worse: one serving of Turducken has 749 calories and 34.5 grams of fat. Try limiting yourself to one bird and skip the crispy skin. A three-ounce serving of skinless turkey has 130 calories. I have never had Turducken only because it is too complicated to make...I will stick with my white turkey breast for the holidays..... HOpe you have a great day.... Jannine 357/164/157

Ok..I noticed there was not a thread yesterday so I decided to handle it today...it is sort of like a confession too...This weekend I went to my womens retreat and brought lots of good food with me just in case there was not something for me to eat...Wellllll safe to say there was lots of junk....I did pretty good when I was around the people who support me and know what my limits are...but then there was my alone time...don't worry I have already kicked my own butt back and forth across the US....it was very hard...most of the choices were were ok...just too much...there were plenty of veggies but with that evil dip and I did have one episode of eating too fast and getting sick..I did however get in all of my water...so I have decided today is a new day and I will run with it..... Breakfast: one packet of Apple Cinnamon oatmeal and 24 oz of water/Crystal Light Snack: will be ZonePerfect Strawberry Bar Lunch: will be Chicken Cream of Mushroom Soup with baby carrots snack: will be DD Coffee Dinner: will be Sazon Pork Roast (hope the pouch like it) with veggies Before Bed: protein Shake Vitamins: taken already Calicum : take before bed...I was told to take my calicum before bed because it absorbs better while you are sleeping so I will see if that is true.... Topic: MARCHers going to goal!
Don't go into something to test the waters, go into things to make waves.....Unknown Author MARCHers - are you making waves? I know you are - we don't want to just test the waters we want big WAVES!!!! We made a huge wave when we made the decision to have WLS and it seems like our waves aren't quite as big as they were at first. We MARCHers not yet as goal, perhaps it seems like we don't even have enough of a wave to get on the surf board, but AT LEAST we have some tiny waves and we need to do some more splashing to get that surf board active again! Are you following the rules? Be honest here. I must confess - while in TN the past few days - I did the bad thing....NUTS. Oh Lordy are those nuts good, but Oh Lordy I am not sure they are good for me. I didn't get in all my water while I was gone and not even Dunkin Donuts iced tea as there are no DD in TN!!!! But I did get in lots of walking, took my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter to the zoo and we walked almost 4 miles just in the zoo!!! She is such a little trooper - she did get tired at the end but her excitement at seeing the animals kept her going! Her most favorite animal was the "red river hog" - I think she just liked the way the words came off her tongue, but we spent a long time looking at red river hogs!!!! I truly enjoyed my visit to see my adorable granddaughter and my 1 year old grandson. I won't bore you with the "MeMe" stories because I could easily get carried away. But I will say those grandkids are absolutely adorable and are such a wonderful addition to my life! Anyway - back to the rules...we must be honest with what we are doing each day to try and create waves and not just wade in the waters. I hope you will do what it takes today to create waves....will you? I have to get in more walking this week and drink more water. Make a wave MARCHers going to goal! Hugs to all...Barbara
