Topic: Surgeon Follow up care
Just curious if everyone is still seeing their surgeon for follow up care. I haven't seen mine since May when I went to him because I was having issues with my stomach after returning from a trip to Mexico. I had been suffering from bouts of constipation to diarrhea within days at a time. He thought it could have been a parasite so sent me to a gastrointerologist. Every test the GI doc performed, I passed with flying colors. Seems that my surgeon was having me take too much calcium which was making me constipated. My surgeon never called back to see how I was doing, nor to follow up on my tests. I'm sure the GI doc sent him my results but it would have been reassuring to hear from him also.
I must admit that I haven't reached my goal. On the contrary, I have not been a model patient because I have gained almost 16 lbs in the past 2 months. I have recently joined a gym and have kick started my weight loss again. This I admit has been all my fault but because of the fact that I never reached my goal, I always got the 'feeling' from my surgeon that I was a disappointment to him. Does that make sense? I was a light weight, having surgery at 246 lbs and my lowest weight to date was 178. I got back up to 199 and swore up and down I was NOT going there again. I have been going to the gym at least 3 times a week for an hour, doing aerobic walking and strength training. I weighed 194 this morning and am hoping that it keeps going in that direction.
I haven't had any blood levels checked in quite awhile but I feel good-my skin is healthy, my hair has grown back thick and full and CURLY and I have lots of energy now that I've been exercising regularly. I take my daily vits and get a fair amount of protein daily. I'm thinking I should call him up and get some blood levels checked once again. What is the protocol? Do i follow up with my PCP now or keep seeing my surgeon? I'd love everyone's feedback.
Thanks!
Sandy

Darlene,
My surgery twin!!!!
I haven't been on in a long time either. lot of things going on, for all of us it seems. I seen you put that you were unsure if you had regrets, I may be one that is not regretfull for one second I still have the same pictures up on my profile, I still check my weight, once in awhile....I know I've gone up and down, but we all do. I've settled into a size 14 which is about 170-180lbs. and have been here for about a year or so. I lost my job, so I think I put on a little weight, but I can start walking, excersice, something....
Don't be discouraged you are well loved and will make it the best we all can...
Missed hearing, or rather chatting with you, if you want you can e-mail me at
[email protected] and I can give you my number or vice versa.... I'd still love to meet you!!!!

I think you and I have alot in common.
I've been gone too. I am regretting everything and I have just deleted my pics from my profile.
Blah!
Its getting better.
I've had some gain, but I am in a 8/10 so I am ok.

It's been so long since anyone has posted starting to wonder if there is anyone out there. I miss you guys.
I have new news I finally got a job here in NC...nothing special but with the way the economy is, a job is a job! The hours are perfect 845 to 5...gotta love that!
I am down to 155 again...not getting there the way i would like...but I'm there nonetheless. My clothes haven't gotten any smaller which shows you I'm lossing muscle not fat...not a good sign.
Anyway...i can't really complain about anything...right now I'm not sure life could get much better...well I guess the insurance could agree to pay for my surgery but other then that life is good!
