Oh my goodness! I didn't know that this could develop! You've got no choice but to be on the straight and narrow now! Good but crappy.

Topic: RE: Questions about Walk Across America
Hi Dawn, WELCOME to our MARCHers board, we are so glad to have you and welcome you to join us each and every day! Yes - we are trying to collectively "walk across America" on paper and we welcome any help. We started out in NYC on October 1 and we are trying to get to Los Angeles! Any help at all will be appreciated! As you have heard in posts above, just keep track of your walking or activity that equals walking - see a prior post from SYTLZ showing what other activities can equal walking and post your results when STYLZ calls for them. Please don't be a stranger and jump in on this board. MARCHers are a great group of people. We also have a Mon-Fri "motivational" post for MARCHers going to goal and MARCHers maintaining. Rick A and myself take turns each week posting. This is my week to post and Rick plugs in next week. We are hopeful to make motivational posts that will keep our board active and hopefully help our fellow MARCHers. Again - welcome! Hugs to you....Barbara

How different our lives are when we really know what is deeply important to us, and keeping that picture in mind, we manage ourselves each day to be and to do what really matters most......Stephen Covey What is deeply important to you? I suspect some 17 months ago what was deeply important to us was the fact we were under going WLS with the goal in mind to lose weight and become healthy. TODAY - what is deeply important to us is getting to our final goal, or if there, maintaining that goal. We are still "babies" in this process...some people are 5/10 years out from surgery. So we have the rest of our lives to continue on this journey, which is a journey we face each and every day. So therefore, we must manage ourselves/our lives each day to be and to do what really matters most - get to goal or maintain at goal. It is deeply important to us to keep the success of WLS at hand and MARCHers - that will require work on your part. PLEASE stop now when reading this and have another bottle/glass of water and take your vitamins if you haven't already. Make a decision today to eat more protein - maybe just today leave off all carbs???? Make a decision today to walk a little more, exercise a little more - whatever it takes in the way of committment from you. What is deeply important to you TODAY? How will you manage your day to move toward your goal or maintain your goal? Hugs to all...Barbara

I found a recipe to use it for breakfast! From what I heard about quinoa it can be substituted for couscous, rice, bulgar or oatmeal (probably other things too). I heard they have red and black quinoa but I haven't tried it yet. I've only found 1 brand in my area, I'm going to check out Whole Foods, hopefully they have different brands and types. Its starting to grow on me Making it with chicken broth was reallyyyyy good! I'm interested to see how it is for breakfast (I'll post the recipe). For the black bean, corn, shrimp combination, I used 2 cups chicken broth, 1 c quinoa, added the beans (rinsed) and corn (drained) once the quinoa was cooked, squirt of lime juice and whatever seasonings you like (I love tastefully simple's spinach herb seasoning and add it to almost everything, their season salt is good too) and added shrimp right before serving (so they didn't over cook). My protein powder is delish... but the company went belly up Its been my protein since week 1 post-op. I was never able to get down a full shake because they were so thick, this shake is thin like juice and the flavors weren't bad. I ordered some Nectar proteins because they have fruity flavors and are think consistency, but not sure how they'll be... I'll let you know after I try them heres the breakfast quinoa recipe: Fruity Quinoa Porridge 1c quinoa 2 c. skim milk 1 apple chopped with skin on 1/3 c. raisins 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 Tbsp floral honey (walmart sells sugar free honey) 1/2 cup warm skim milk, (extra to serve) put the quinoa in a sieve and rinse well under cold running water. Tip the quinoa into a saucepan, then pour in the milk. Bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the apple, raisins and cinnamon, simmer for 5-6 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed. put in 4 bowls, drizzle the honey over the top and serve with extra skim milk. it makes 4 servings and has 13 grams protein, 4 gr fiber
