Topic: checking in/update on me

Hi Friends,

It's been way toooooo long. sorry I've been mia.  Don't know where to begin.  My 18 month old son has been really having bad asthma spells.  He also ended up hospitalized in mid december with RSV and was very very sick.  At the same time I was admitted with really bad abdominal pain and had to have exploratory lap by my OBGYN.  I've had this mysterious pain in my right side for months now getting progressively worse to where I can take two pain pills and it barely dents the pain.  The good news is my bariatric surgeon who is also a general surgeon is going to do open exploratory surgery along with a hysterectomy which I need as well.  I'm also going to get my tummy tuck.  Found out yesterday that my insurance co. won't pay, but my parents, my angels are going to help loan us the money.  It's really an ideal time to have it since I'll already be cut open and under anesthesia.  Surgery is scheduled for 1/20.

Other than our recent health issues the family is well.  My 10 year old daughter is active in tap dance and church activities.  My 5 year old is in busy in girl scouts and church activities.  The baby is now almost 18 months old and what a busy little guy.  He's a mommy's boy and I love every minute of it!

We have our big long anticipated Disney trip planned in April and are getting very excited about that.  I just hope I can get my health all straightened around and heal up from my surgeries by then.

As for my weight progress I'm down to 191 currently.  I was 340 presurgery, got down to 182 at my lowest, then crept up to 210.  The Dr. feels I have at least 15 pounds in excess skin that will be removed when I have my tummy tuck done, so I should be right about where my goal has been from the beginning.

I hope you all are doing well and would love to hear some updates.

Trish congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!

Hugs to all!

Heya,

I had my surgery March 20th 2006 in Flagstaff Arizona, I was at 315-320 day of surgery and now I fluctuate from 190-220. ECH, my body, even at 170 was larger than I wanted it to be, I went from 26-28-30 to around 14-16. Sometimes lower sometimes higher, story of our lives right? I need to get back on track, I was doing really well all of last year and most of this year, but after I lost my job and my self-esteem went out the door  I started gaining weight, I have the plateau buster diet I'm gonna try. you can contact me anytime and I'll answer, and I hear ya on the not eating right part, I still have excess skin but don't have the money for a tummy tuck or the boob lift or butt lift,  so I sag a lot, which we all do for a time. I hope you have a wonderful day!!!!

I haven't seen my surgeon since I was 9 months post op and that's because I moved to another state. I did follow up with my regular doc for 1 year, year 1/2 and 2 year follow ups for blood work...then I moved again and I followed up at 2 1/2 years with a doc here.

I was 278 the day of surgery and I got down to as small as 150 but I now bounce back and forth from 160 to 170...I try to stay at 165. 2 months ago i was back down to 155...and well I'm now at 167 GRRR....like you it's my fault...i went to work, stopped going to the gym and added in junk food.

I'm excited for you jumping starting your weight loss again. My last day of work is tuesday...not going like I had hoped so I'm going back to what i love...volunteering in the special ed class. I know when I'm happier I'm more apt to work out...so i'm hoping this will point me in the right direction like you are in.

Oh...and if you don't get a good feeling from your surgeon don't see him..it's just going to make matters worse...at this point your regular doc is more then able to do your follow ups...and if you have a problem that does come up...you can always ask for a referal to another surgeon.

I see my surgeon or his PA once a year and have bloodwork done at that time. I have have had issues with anemia so I see a hemotologist and have my iron levels taken more frequently.

Every surgeon has a different protocol. I expect to follow up with mine yearly until he retires.

It is important to have your bloodwork checked. Issues with your bloodwork  can sneak up on you. It's better to know you have the issues prior to feeling bad.

I'm glad to hear your back on track.

Sandy I follow up once a year with my surgeon of if the pouch is bothering me....but other than that I have not seen him...except at the once a month support group meetings....I weighted 357 and I am averaging between 165 and 171 but I feel great....I would definately have a talk to your surgeon about his attitude and if you keep getting it then I would go to my PCP....I know you will continue to go down...everyone falls off the track but all we have to do is get back up and work that tool....feel free to PM me anytime...
