Why chest pain???

Hello Everyone! I'm just wondering why we get chest pain if we eat to fast or don't chew well enough? A nurse that I work with mentioned that some surgeons do an esphogeal (sp) band so the food can't dump into the pouch. She mentioned this before I heard anyone complain of chest pain (and before I experienced it myself). My surgeon has been very good with providing me with information but he never mentioned this. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks!! MsKeara

I don't think they do anything to our esophagus for the RNY. I'm no expert, but I think its just food backing up into our esophagus that causes the chest pain... Anyone else can explain?? Rebecca M. 269/234/150

I was told it was the food backing up also.

My dr. said that food gets 'stuck' and it's not flowing through the band. Slow down and chew more.
