I have thrown up three times (without help). The first time was about 2 weeks out from surgery. I ate grits, got stuck! I don't eat them anymore. The second two times were because of milk products (milk & ice cream). I wish I did throw up more. Mostly because if I eat something my pouch doesn't agree with I feel miserable until things go through. My surgeon said that my stoma was really tight when they tested me the day after surgery. I think that is a good thing because I have to still eat slowly and chew well or I pay for it. He also thinks that is why I have a difficult time throwing up. I literally have to make myself get sick which I have only done twice. It's too difficult so I usually just suffer through. Sounds like you puke a lot. But it also sounds like you know what your triggers are, eating too fast, drinking too much, eating the wrong food. You might want to ask your doctor about it anyway. Better to check and know nothing is wrong than to wait it out and something more serious develope. Robin

I have NEVER thrown up since surgery, but I'm someone that rarely pukes ever... I've only puked 3 times in my WHOLE LIFE! I have issues with puking, for some reason, I'd rather suffer than vomit. Stupid, huh? I still struggle with chewing completely, or eating too fast, and my pouch gets uncomfortable pain all the time from these issues. Like every other day, I'll eat too fast or maybe pu**** too much (have a few extra bites when I KNOW I should stop) and I'll stay uncomfortable for almost an hour. I won't throw up, I just burp burp burp. I'm the burper... I should be named Dame Burper (like Dame Tooter is named after her gas) LOL My husband just rolls his eyes and says, "Here we go, the burping begins..." Rebecca

I swtill puke. I carry a bag and paper cups in my car. I puke if I eat too fast, too much or if the meat is dry (and I ty it anyway) or if I eat someting grouch just does not like. Man I know when it s going to happen too I get that funny feeling in my mouth and throat then bam! why do I tempt fate?? Something in my head said hey have some french fries today well I had 4 and then well I do not need to tell you all what happened. learned grouch rules my life now and I need to always remember that. so no french fries for me anytime soon (same thing happend when I thought I would try a fried chicken wing).

I've only twice since surgery (once on a protein shake the other on tabuli). My dumping is more of feeling dizzy, heart palpitations and sweats so I try to keep from that happening. I do get the "foamies" atleast a few times a week when I drink too fast or eat something too bready. the nutritionist said I'm a "pusher" (meaning I push to drink more than I should or push to eat a little more than I should espically with carbs). Since she told me that I've watched it and for the most part cut back. One thing we were told about eating too fast is if you go back to it, try retraining yourself to eat slower by setting an egg timer. Maybe that will help slow you down while eating so you dont ?

Hi Mimi, I think I have puked 3 times and all times were because I didnt chew something well. And the three times were spaced pretty far. I have seen posts on the general board people making comments, or inquiring about the puking like its a norm to be expected when you have weightloss. It is not normal, one shouldn't do it regularly. I would be, or as a family member be concerned if the wls person was puking fairly often. Yes it can happen, wrong foods, not well chewed food. But it should not be a regular multiple times a week thing. It can't be good for you. You do seem to know what causes it, so that can be a plus. I / we all know how hard it is to not eat things we know we shouldnt. Thats the only thing I can suggest, the obvious, which as I said isnt always easy, we are food addicts. But, try to make a conscious effort to chew chew chew, eat slowly, try to take the time to eat, not eat on the run so that you don't mis-chew. And sadly the rice might have to go. It is good, I like rice too, but I don't think its worth throwing up over. I hope you can find a happy medium, it cant be pleasant this far out to live regularly throwing up. good luck!!!
