Q About Weigh****chers
Anyone ever done WW?
Im just curious about them... I was always a South Beach Diet girl... I was thinking post-surgery it would be nice to have something structured, and something that keeps me accountable, so I can work on keeping this weight off for life.
Im more apt to look into WW now they have their CORE plan.
I just don't know if it's worth the money-- support? Any opinions on them?
I haven't done weigh****chers but I have a close friend who's in the program now. Honestly, to me, it seems like a rip-off. I think their plan is fine and dandy but their books can be bought, read, and plan followed. It's a good bit of money and she said that all they do at meetings is weigh (and tell eachother if you choose to) and talk about new products out in stores that look interesting or just chat about how everyone is doing. I think that with a board like OH or an in person support group you can have the same accountability for free. Just my .02.
I've done WW
(hundreds of times )
I was on was the Points program, don't know if you're familiar with it--but all foods have Points assigned to them, you get an assigned number of points to eat per day, you decide how to "spend" them.
I really like the program, very sensible, healthy and balanced. I have also done the online program ($16/month) which was cool, b/c you can enter your foods online and it figures the points for you.
Great recipes, I still cook from a lot of their cook books.
I don't care for the meetings b/c at mine, ALL they talked about was FOOD. I didn't find them that helpful, but sometimes I did get one helpful tip.
What I didn't like: Having to count EVERY single bite that went in my mouth made me food obssessed, I had to think about it ALL the time. It made me crazy after a while.
Carbs count for LESS points than protein, so they tend to lean toward pro carb, lots of pastas etc. But it's ultimately your choice.
HTH,
