WDYET??? *** Thursday ***
just curious Laura.. does your nutritionist have you on 700 calories or its your goal to stay around that? Mine tells me I should be up to 1000 calories by now even though its normally around 800. Not on purpose, I'm just not a big eater (about a month ago was the first time I was able to eat a whole packet of oatmeal).
I don't have a specific number of calories I should be at right now. I called yesterday because I was worried I am not eating enough calories but she said not to worry as long as I am still losing weight and I am getting in enough protein.
I don't try to restrict myself to 700 calories...I have to work hard to get there!
Laura
I'm posting this early, hoping for some suggestions. I have planned my food for the rest of the day and I still land at only 533 calories! I did do well with 70 grams of protein though.
According to my doctor, I should only be eating 3 meals a day...no snacks....but my meal plan below nvolves eating 4 times, plus drinking milk before bed.
I get full everytime I eat. I don't feel like I am starving myself. I guess I can try to add a mid-afternoon snack today but I don't want to get in the habit of eating if I'm not hungry!
Breakfast: Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal with 3/4 c fat free Hood Calorie Countdown (194 calories)
Lunch: Spicy Lemon Salmon Cakes, 1 patty (82 calories)
Dinner: Stuffed bell peppers (they are in the crockpot making my house smell fabulous) (166 calories)
Snack: 1/2 c fat free cottage cheese with Splenda and cinnamon (80 calories)
Before bed: 8 oz. fat free Hood Calorie Countdown, steamed, with 1 oz. Davinci syrup (45 calories)
I had planned to eat two salmon cakes at lunch, but I got full on one. I can also barely get down the entire bowl of oatmeal in the morning.
Any ideas?
I wish I was you!!! I freak out a lot cause it seems like it takes a lot for me to get full. Its scary. I normally dish out my portion and stop when Im done... but it doesn't make me full
When I calculate calories Im not freaking out so much..... like today is 900 calories. ...so I know Im good, but still it seems like I can consume a lot of food.
If your losing good on those calories don't worry about it. Maybe add some full fat cheese in somehwere, that would up it
Oh I was going to say, 533 calories... if your exercising is very low... your body needs energy to burn, so if you are exercising too-- then you do probably want to get more calories in... try eating full fat cheese/milk, adding some nuts/peanut butter into your diet is a good and healthy way to increase calories.
I love full fat cheese...especially pepper-jack cheese...I'm going to buy some the next time I'm at the store!
I love nuts too. I could easily add those. Just the mention of it has made me crave some almonds.
Right now I am not exercising at all, but I typically do 1 hour of cardio (treadmill, bellydancing or water aerobics) 3 times a week and 30 minutes of strength training 3 times a week.
Maybe next week when I get back to my regular exercise schedule I will have more hunger.
I love the pepper jack cheese too!!!! I mean, if youve noticed I eat a cheese stick every day LOL. Sargento sells the pepper jack string cheese, so 1oz portions... I love those things!
500-600 calories is not a lot for the amount of exercise you normally do. Really you should talk to your nutritionist though.... that small amount of calories is what I was supposed to be eating at 2-3 months post-op. Now my Nut. wants me around 1000 calories.
I can't remember, how close to goal are you?

Can you tolerate protien bars?
You can replace on of your snacks with a protein bar.
Pure Protien Chewy Chocolate Chip
(1) 1.76 oz bar has:
190 calories
5 g fat
1 g sugar
9 g sugar alcohol
20g protien
I eat at least one of these everyday. You can buy this size at Wal-mart.
Be careful if you gt these at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe. They usually carry the larger sizes. You'd probably want to cut those in half.
