Hello Gang.... I'm trying to vary up my exercise options. I seem to always end of walking outside or walking inside (with Leslie Sansone). I'm thinking of joining the YMCA. What are your exercise routines? What works for you and what hasn't? Thanks for participating! Tamara

I usually swim or do some form of water exercises for about 1-1/2 hour 3-5 times a week. When I can not swim I will walk at least a mile then do the stair stepper for about 45-60 min. and then do the weight curcuit. I belong to a health club that really caters to normal people. I swim in the warm water pool--it like a bath usually 90-92 degrees. Then I treat myself to the whirlpool and sauna for a few minutes to warm up.

Hi Tamara. I do free weights at the gym an average of twice each week and also cardio at the gym twice a week. I'd like to increase my days at the gym to six per week but can't seem to make that happen. I don't really know if my exercise is helping me or not so I can't offer recommendations. But, I'm trying! - Stephanie

I just now started back exercising regulary. I walk 4 miles or get on the elliptical trainer at the gym for a minimum of 30 minutes (because I have to go on my lunch hour) at at LEAST 5 MPH for the entire time. I even went today - STAURDAY! Eventually, when it becomes more of a habit, I will get back into the weight training and stuff. One step at a time. Kathy

Hi Tamara: I joined Curves in July. Its wonderful I tried just walking but surgeon said I needed resistance training?? This is only 30 minutes and I've found them most places I've been to. I've had to travel a lot lately so keeping with it is a real challenge. I'm not a an athletic person. I can (and have) fallen over my own feet. Curves does real well for me. It's $29/month (may vary in other places) you can look them up on the net for locations and info LOL Melissa

I just got a Nordic Track elliptical online and should be getting it next week sometime. Seeing as how I have not exercised at all since I had surgery I've got high hopes this'll be a new page in my weight loss story. I've got 58 pounds to loose before being at my personal goal of 140 and I'm hoping to drop it by June or July. Tina 315/198/140

Hi Tamara, I have only been getting in 2-3 days of exercise a week. For cardio I either walk for 45 minutes, go to curves, or use the gym eliptical for 20-30 min. I also do strength training which consists of the following (2-3x week): Lower Body: (2 sets of 12 each) squats lunges standing side (outer thigh) lifts on the mat, outer thigh lifts inner thigh lifts back of thigh, gluts leg lifts (this one is on all fours) Upper body: 2 sets of 12 each curls - biceps triceps - (hold weight over head and bend & extend elbows shoulders push-ups - using the ball on the wall Abs: 100 crunches and 20 reverse crunches (lie on back, lift legs in the air and lower to about 4 inches off of ground, repeat) I am trying to get myself to 5x a week exercise. My plan is, beginning today, to work out at the gym on M,W,F and on T&T eveing to go to curves. I'll probably go for long walks on the weekends. I have 25 lbs to my personal goal & I know that exercise will really help get me there. Hugs, Robin
