He was glad he was chosen because he felt hopeless ----"That's how hopeless I felt," Chopin, a family man and deli owner from West Islip, N.Y., told The Associated Press in a phone interview Friday. "I felt like I needed to go for the surgery but, really, I'm so glad I didn't. ... I knew the whole time, I honestly knew, I was copping out, I was quitting." here is the entire story if you want to read it http://apnews.excite.com/article/20061216/D8M1L6BG0.html

I read this too. I'm saddened to hear that he feels WLS is "copping out" or quitting. For some of us it is the road to success. I hope that I never try to say that my way is the only way but rather embrace the many different methods of losing weight for many different people. - Stephanie
