It's Thursday Thursday Thursday!
Good afternoon, hope everyone is having a good day. Mine started off kind of yucky. Still not feeling too well so not sure if I"ll be making the gym or not today. Plan was to go this afternoon around 5pm or so. Dave was on his way home from work yesterday and his car got a flat tire. Luckily he was near the repair station we use, so he pulled in there. They were close to closing up so have it today putting on two new back tires, he needed anyways. So he took my car today so I'm homebound until we pick it up later.
This morning I thought I'd try something different for breakfast. Pre-op I was never a big cereal eater or oatmeal eater. But a few months before surgery while trying to lose some weight I found that I liked oatmeal so had that a few times. I havent had it since surgery and it has been on my mind lately to give it a shot. Ive been getting bored with the same breakfast options and Im sure oatmeal is good for me. Also wondered if it is best choice since its like only 5gms of protein, eggs or cheese would give me more. But anyways.. lol I made the smaller amount by the instructions which was 1/2 dry with 1 cup water. After it was cooked I took about 1/2 of that, so 1/4 cup. I added some chopped almonds, some cinnomon and a splend packet. It tasted good, had no problem going down and I finished the 1/4 cup no problem. But a little later my stomach started to hurt. Not a stuffed hurt, ate to much but more like I'm guessing an ulcer feeling? Ive not been one to get heartburn or ever have those type problems, but thats the only feeling I can think of that it felt like. It was like a gnawing pain. I chewed a TUMS, didnt seem to help, then had some zantac 75 OTC here so took one of those and ended up laying down for a few hours. So it did eventually go away, but I had it for like 2 or more hours constant. I'm wondering if the oatmeal was too heavy, that it swells up and maybe it made my pouch full and the oatmeal was sitting or hitting the top of my stomach? Dave said to call the doc and tell them but I didnt want to do that until I see if this is a regular problem with most of what I eat. I dont want a scope for one incidence of something bothering my stomach. So we shall see.
do you think that sounds logical? That it filled up my pouch and it was a matter of how it was sitting? I'd sure hate to have ulcer problems/heartburn or whatever.
I had a protein shake since at about noon and that went down fine, thought my tummy felt like it might do it again but it didnt. Just left over feeling at first I guess. So its got me feeling kind of blah today. So will see how it goes later on whether I get moving or not. I didnt go to the gym yesterday with having to go pick him up stranded without the car. But I did get that 2 mile walk in, so I dont feel too bad. LOL
Whats up for the weekend? Any big plans? Darlene I guess you are getting new residents. Hope you're all ready.
I believe I'll be going with my friend and some of the other girls to start checking out bridesmaids dresses for my friends wedding. I'm very excited about this being in a wedding and getting to be able to actually fit in the dresses without worrying about finding one big enough. So that will be cool. the wedding isnt I believe until next Sept 2, but the ball is rolling on everything. Dont even know what size I'll be in by then, but I'm guessing smaller than I am now.
Also my nephew is home on visit from Iraq, got in on Tuesday, saw him for a few hours Wednesday night. Might be doing breakfast one morning with him over the weekend. He is so excited this is his last year, he can't wait to get out of the Army. My brother just found a house for him recently they purchased, so he's all set when he gets back. They've been fixing it up and getting it all perfect. Not sure if they are going to rent it out this year or not, but probably. I know he's not sure if he will live in it right away when back or not. The plan is to go to college when he gets out. Having the house he feels he may go to school more locally now than the original plan, I hope so, he's been gone 4 long years now!! But if he goes away to school he said he would rent it out. I also wonder about the girlfriend situation. he has been seeing this girl from Germany he met while stationed there for over a y ear now. I know he said he wants to call it quits/ or at least not have her to have to be committed to him while he's out on tours in Iraq, thats what he said originally, he didnt want her or him to gt too attached. yea right!! Its been over a year now. She is due to come in today to the states to visit here with him while he's home.. This is her 3rd visit since last Christmas with him. Sounds pretty serious to me. LOL So we'll see what happens next year when he's out. how that situation will work.
Ok, I guess I must be feeling better or ok, I surely havent shut up now for how long? LOL Have a great day!
I had oatmeal for breakfast too! Though mine was just a regular little packet of low sugar maple & brown sugar oatmeal.. nothing as fancy and yummy sounding as what you made! I love love love eggs, so eat eggs for breakfast almost every day-- I mix it up on the odd occasion by adding a small whole wheat tortilla and having breakfast burrito or a breakfast quesidilla.... today though I wanted something quick, oatmeal it was! Sits just fine for me... so not sure why you had the reaction you did--- oatmeal does swell, so maybe you did eat too much...
Yup, we are getting new residents this weekend!!! EJ & I have cake decorating class Friday after work, then Saturday morning we are leaving around 5am with EJ's Mom for Flagstaff. EJ's Dad is also going up... which will be weird (Divorced parents).... we will help get everything packed, then EJ and I get to bring the baby home YAY!!!! Katie & Mead (Our new residents) have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and can fit way more stuff in it without putting the baby in it... we have a smaller SUV so we are going to ride 2 & 1/2 hours home with little 2 month old Bree.... hopefully she will behave for us hehe So yeah the day will be full of packing all their stuff in Flagstaff, driving it back down to the valley and unpacking it at our house. Fun Fun!
Sunday should be pretty relaxing, and I'll be glad to have Katie & mead in the house, we are good friends...
have you tried quaker weight control oatmeal? it has 8 grms of protein. I usually add
hood carb control milk--thier version of skim and that adds 8 grms of protein. I like my oatmeal a little on the runny side and pouch loves oatmeal and cream of wheat.
I actually went out tonight to go swimming. what was I thinking??? the water was a warm 90 degrees (it is a therapy pool) but darn it it was freezing when I got out to jump in the hot tub and then the sauna.
I need to eat one more meal--you have me wanting oatmeal now.
Have a great evening
