What about Thanksgiving?

What a great post, Barbara! I live in northern Indiana. I am definitely cooking for Thanksgiving. It'll be me, hubby, the 2 kids, my sister and her husband (who is from Africa so this is all TOTALLY new to him). I plan on doing for this Thanksgiving what I've done for all of the others, with a few wiser choices. I LOVE to cook and do it all the time, I much prefer cooking to eating these days so everyone around me stays well fed. Usually I eat a little here and there but the smells from cooking mostly satisfy me. I never was into big portions, just enjoyed variety so that's what I cook! There's a spicy cheesy spinach dish called Spinach Madeline that my family makes every year that is fantastic that I'll make, plus a ham (gift from hubby's work) and whatever else strikes me. Was thinking of making Susan Maria's SF Pecan Pie with Steel's syrup too. I don't know, sugar alcohols don't do anything to me but could make other people feel icky.

Hi Barbara, Fall is movingn so fast!! It was like I was anxious for it and now it's here and whizzing by. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it! What state do we all live in? Pennsylvania Are you cooking for Thanksgiving? Not sure yet. Thinking we may have a small gathering, just us 2, with my parents and my one brother. Hoping my mom has it at her new house. They are suppose to move by Nov 15th. I know thats asking alot, but we're all just excited for them and I thought it would be nice to have it there. I'll help though. How many people are you cooking for? That would be 5. But again we might get invited to my other brothers house and that would be a houseful with both sides of the family. Don't know yet. Where are you going for Thanksgiving if you are not cooking? See all above. LOL How do you plan on handling the Thanksgiving feast? Not concerned about it. Just a little of this, little of that. Never was big on the Thanksgiving feast. I love the veggie tray though, so I should be good. Will just have to work on remembering to have some protein first. LOL

Hi Barbara. What state...Maryland for the past year and a half now, California before that and Germany before that. Military. Just retired this summer, so Maryland is it for awhile. Are you cooking for Thanksgiving...yes, but not a lot. We are going to Connecticut to my brother and sister in law's home (hubby's brother). Should be really nice. I will help cook and I will probably bring some dessert that is good for me to eat. I am trying out the pumpkin recipes I got from here no OH and hope to find one that I think we will all enjoy. How do you plan on handling the feast...I plan on eating sensibly. If I can avoid grazing all day I should do very well. But that will be tough as there are veggie and snack trays out all day long. I plan on tasting everything that I know I can tolerate (nothing with milk) and then really filling up on turkey! I love the holidays!

What state do we all live in? New Hampshire, the Granite State! Are you cooking for Thanksgiving? Yup, I love cooking for holidays. I let those creative juices flow! How many people are you cooking for? Thus far it's just 3 of us. My mother is coming up from Florida for a week so I will be cooking for her, my husband and myself. His family always waits till the last minute to decide what to do so it could be more than 3. Where are you going for Thanksgiving if you are not cooking? Home Sweet Home How do you plan on handling the Thanksgiving feast? I plan to have mostly turkey and veggies but will have a spoonful of stuffing if I feel like it. I'll also have a bite or two of apple cranberry pie. But that will be all for me this year. It feels great to know that I can control my portions and also control the type of food I eat. Enjoy! - Stephanie
