Wow! I'd say this guy wasn't really ready for the committment that WLS requires. I don't agree with him that he will never be able to enjoy his favorites again but I do agree with his doctor that he wasn't ready! This surgery requires more of your brain than it does of your body! Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend! - Stephanie

ya know, The weekend before surgery (Thursday, friday and saturday) I binged and had EVERY THING I wanted! It was my " last good bye" to food, but I can eat almost all of that stuff now, I just choose not to..

It bugs me how ignorant the patient sounds. I mean, did he not research ANYTHING before deciding to have WLS. Duh! I think the Dr. was right in stopping the surgery. This guy has no clue. Plus, if you're going to go on a two week binge--don't have a newspaper--which your dr. can read--chronicle your pigging out! For Pete's sake!

I went on a fairwell tour of all my fastfood places before surgery and it didnt do any harm. His mistake was putting it in the paper

I knew that was going to happen!! Last week they showed his menu as to what he ate every day for a week and atleast 2 meals a day were at a restaurant and far from healthy. It said he was doing this as a "last hurrah" type thing and mentioned who his surgeon was... I can only imagine how mad his dr.'s office was after seeing him eating like a pig then wanting surgery.. Serves him right that he now has to lose 40lbs before surgery... I bet if or when he gets a date he wont go around advertising in the herald that he ate at over 10 restaurants in a week!!

I am glad his surgeon will not do the surgery until he loses weight and sees a counselor. People do not understand that this is not an easy way out. You have to work at losing the weight. mj

It is so easy to judge poeple after you have had the rny if we were not overeaters like him we would have not needed the surgery in the fist place. We didnt get obese by eating salads think about it

No but none of us decided to let a newspaper in on our last binges and not everyone has them, in fact the last two weeks before my operation I was on Optifast, and prior to that some of the foods I ate were fav meals that were not fast food or that unhealthy. One has to wonder if they paid for his meals. It's the fact that he advertised it I think that most probably would upset most people on here, as to the actual bingeing, except I have to say 'two weeks' is a hell of a binge!!! Also not everyone who has this operation has problems binge eating. There are lots of reasons for being overweight. He in fact did no favours to people who have had or are going to have WLS surgery or even the whole WLS process. His surgeon would have been remiss if he hadn't done something to show that it wasn't an easy answer to weight problems. Just my two cents worth. Cheers Kylie
