Movin' Monday?
I'm gonna try!
Hello fellow Marchers,
Not feeling to motivated this morning as I got on the scale and instead of being the SAME exact weight as I have been for what now seems like weeks and weeks and weeks, it showed me up by 2 lbs. What is with that? I immediately felt very discouraged and just said to DH, that's it, I'm not doing anything today. I sat down at the kitchen table chair, crossed my arms and pouted. LOL
I just don't know what to do to make my weight move. I am not eating sugars and carbs. Oh boy, I had two french fries the other day. If that's going to hold off my weightloss or make me gain then I do give up. LOL It's not time for Aunt Flo yet, got a few weeks for that. I did lose last time while she was visiting and stopped losing after that. I thought, ok fine, understandable, got to have the little stall. Well this is getting ridiculous. I've upped my exercise, I get in my protein, my water, I'm not over eating. I just can't do anything more to lose. I may be only 3 to 4 weeks at this weight (which again is way too long), but someone tell me when it's going to change?
I feel crazed because I seem the past few months to hold then drop 10 lbs.. well darnit I want to drop another 10 and be 210, so that the next time I can make it under 200. I have been this close (20 lbs) for ages it seems and am starting to feel that.. "This is it, am I done losing" mentality.
I'm going to move to lose today. I am not going to give in. I will go to the gym. Sadly it will not be with the same gusto and determination as I felt last week. Not with the same joy and feeling of accomplishment. I am just going to go because I know that I should go and just maybe there's a glimmer of hope that going to the gym is actually doing anything and that one day I might lose another pound.
I don't know that I have much encouragement for anyone today, except that if not for our physical aspects in the way we look, or that our weight will drop... get your exercise in today just to feel better and be healthier. It's good for your heart. Hopefully when I get back from the gym this morning I'll feel better. And in the words of Kathy S.....
If I exercise today will I feel better after I do it? YES
Will exercising help with my weightloss/maintenance? Well it should!! (ok, so those are my words lol)
Will I be upset if I dont' exercise today? YES
If I exercise today will I stand a little taller and function better during the day? I sure hope so!! (mine again! lol thats why I'm going, this is what Im hoping for )
Have a good day everyone! If you have any positive thoughts, ideas, some miracle weightloss tips send them over. I'm sinkin over here! Thanks!!
Ruth Ann - I don't know if this works or not, but I have read about it on other boards...this Plateau Buster diet. It might work and I am thinking about doing it for 10 days. Some say after being on the PB diet, then they gain it back after they quit doing it. But it sounds like mostly protein without even the good carbs...so I just don't know. My plateau's haven't been as drastic as yours, but it is moving slower. My doctor said on Friday the next 6 months will be much slower than the first 6 months. Anyway, I copied the diet below and you can take a look at it. But don't give up on the exercise - that is another thing the doctor said - get plenty of exercise the next 6 months - so exercise has to be good for you too. Take care - I feel you pain. Hugs, Barbara
How to break a plateau
#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day
#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of high protein foods, 5x a day
beef
pork
chicken
turkey
lamb
fish
eggs
low fat cheese
cottage cheese
plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?)
peanut butter
beans/legumes
You may also have:
sugar free popsicles
tea or coffee
sugar free soda
sugar free jello
broths/bullion
crystal light drinks
#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!
#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily
Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the info. I've seen this before and as you mentioned if you gain it back after doing it, then why do it? LOL Doesn't make sense. The concept of cutting back on carbs and doing higher protein is good, but that's pretty much what I do.
Anyways, I am back from the gym. I feel 100 % better. Not so defeated anymore. Exercise is good for the soul!!!
I printed out my 2nd workout per the ActivTrax 30 day free trial I am doing. I'm giving that a try, something different from what I've been doing, we'll see if it starts doing anything different. The one worker there in the day time, nice older gentleman helped me out alot today. I had asked him a question about something and he went over my sheets for me, explained alot and (not included in the workout) but showed me this one arm marchine I can use to work on my triceps. I had mentioned that I need lots of work there. This machine is soooo cool!! I'll be using it lots!! LOL Its this high machine you climb up on , sit on your knees, and it helps you life yourself up and down. There are diff types to do on it, but he showed me the one that works the back of the arms. It was very low impact for my knees, I was able to lift my weight up and down on it and was working my triceps!! wooHoo!!! LOL They need help!
So I did all my stuff, Im home and as I said feel great, so much better than this morning! Thanks for your post! Have a great day!
Ruth Ann, We share the same body I'm convinced! I have only lost 6 pounds since last month and that is it. Nothing more! I jumped on a scale at the store that is why I know that, but my appointment with the actual dr's office isn't until probably next month. I'm a slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww loser but it's coming off slowly slowly slowwwwwwwwwly but surely. Hang in there! I'm off to tae-bo now.
Trish
Hi Ruth Ann.
I am so glad that you didn't give in to discouragment and you went to work out! Yay for you!
I got in a long walk this weekend, a little over two hours, and that was after going to curves! I got up again this AM and worked out. Only 15 min on my bike but then I did my conditioning exercises. I was really sweating. I just finished a 30 min walk on my lunch. Although I must say that today I walked in some pretty scary side streets of Baltimore and know for sure that I would never even tempt those in the dark. LOL But it is a beautiful sunny day and I was thrilled to be out and walking!
I'm not so sure about the plateau buster diet either. It doesn't make sense that you would gain the weight back unless the calorie intake is way too low so your body goes into starvation mode and when you start putting in more calories it holds on for dear life. Now this is of course my logic and has nothing to do with modern science! Or any kind of science for that matter.
Keep up the great work everyone!
Hugs, Robin
Hiya Ruth Ann. Stupid scale!!!! Mine hasn't been behaving either. Why, oh why does the scale refuse to move when you are working so hard?!?! Mine hasn't moved since I started working out at the gym. I know that I'm building muscle which weighs more than fat and all that stuff. But still!!!! Ugh!
Oh well. It will move again at some point. Or else!
This weekend I hit the gym on both Saturday and Sunday. I did an hour of weight training on Saturday and 45 minutes of cardio on Sunday. Wow does that eliptical trainer kick my butt!
Tonight is my session with the trainer. We'll see what he has in store for me for this week. I have to say that I actually think I might be enjoying exercising. We'll see if I can stick with it. That seems to be my biggest issue with any exercise program. I'm hoping that I can incorporate this routine into a lifestyle.
Good for you for exercising even though you were frustrated! You're my hero!
Happy Monday!
