During the fall there are many places across the country that have "Walk from Obesity" functions. The link below will take you there to read about it. I challenge all of us MARCHers to participate in this event - if there is a location near you. Karen (another MARCHer) and myself are going to walk in the Lowell, MA walk on September 30th. it is sponsored by our Weight Management Clinic and our surgeons that did our surgery. Ms. Keara did a great thing yesterday when she participated in a 5K! We may not all run, but we can all sure WALK and what a great challenge for each of us. You get a t-shirt and think how much smaller it will be this year than they one you would have ordered last year!!!! So I challenge all of you to participate if there is a walk in your area and let's all BRAG after we have completed the walk! Check it out! Barbara http://www.walkfromobesity.com/index.php

Our walk here also includes free health testing--- free bone density scans etc, so it would be great to go to and get all that free stuff done to check up on how your doing health wise.

I have had that as a goal for myself.... I have been doing the 10 weeks training for it and I am up to 1 1/2 miles.... I dunno if I can do it fast or I might be last but it is the one commitment that I finally want to keep for myself Jeani

Jeani - if you are the last one in - WHO CARES???? At least you tried your best and did it! This time last year you probably wouldn't have even considered it! And if you are the last one in - us MARCHers are going to be cheering you on! You still have several more weeks to train and you will be ready! Congratulations on making that commitment to JUST DO IT!!!! Barbara

I can't wait! I'm going to start walking 2 miles at work this week (eventually I'd like to get 2 miles done within an hour), I tried the bike trail close to my house, but its so flat.. you can tell its a bike trail not a walking trail.. Barbara is John going to do it too (of if your daughter is coming up for the weekend)? maybe you can bring the stroller!! ;) the more the merrier My sister and mom said they would join in too! As far as I know its an up to 3 miles. Hopefully we'll get more information on it soon, there isnt a start time or anything on the website.

In case anyone is wondering....the stroller would be for my pugs! My older pug has breathing problems and if the temperature is over 70 degrees, she can't walk and get enough air into her lungs because of her short nose and it could be very unhealthy for her! So when my hubby and I go walking - and it is over 70 degrees, the pugs get a free ride in their "stroller for dogs only"!!! The male pug can walk fine, but he likes to ride and look! And yes my husband is going to walk with me - so everybody bring somebody with them to walk in this great cause!
