Constipated! Warning TMI!
OH boy this has been horrible!!!
I have never had this before. I have had to have a BM for 3 days that I remember and it has been horrible!! I was finally able to tonight but ohhhhh. (Sorry TMI)
I've been fairly regular since surgery. But not every day or more like before. But I've never had a problem either. Until now.
Does anyone out there use some kind of fiber blend or whatever to help? I remeber hearing folks talk about MOM (Milk of Magnesia) on the main boards before surgery and never figured I'd have a problem with it. I was wrong.
I did buy MOM tonight. Just wondering, think I should take it in a day or so?
BTW- I just love our board. Even when I just lurk.
hi Jennifer..
I've had the same problem since well before surgery (I think its from being on so many high protein/low carb diets all my life to lose weight, anyway...) I've tried benefiber and it didn't help, I tried benefiber chews which were chalky and didn't help. Since neither of those things worked I talked to the nurse who put me on "Miralax" this is what we used for our bowel prep before bypass surgery. I take a capful in liquid (tasteless powder) a day and it seems to help.
I just started taking a different fiber supplement called "Fiber Choice, plus calcium". Each tablet has 2 grams of fiber in it and you can take up to 6 a day (I've been taking 4). I really like them because they're not chalky they actually taste more like a sweet tart (sugar free of course)...
hope this helps
We covered somthing like this in one of our support meetings. Are you getting enough water in? One of the early signs of dehydration is constipation. I go one way or the other. I am either constipated or diariah??(sp)??. But after the seminar and knowing tha****er could be contributing factor I very closley watched my water for a month and i had no issues not even once. But then this last week I have been having problems getting my water in (i have only been getting 20oz a day maybe) and I have been sooooo stopped up the last couple of days. I will try the MOM thing to try and get things started. But I have definately noticed that getting enough water helps me stay pretty regular.
